haha I did for the first time service before last. Don't necessarily regret it, but at the same time it really reinforced the 'dont fix it if aint broke' saying.

My truck (bought used) had some sort of plastic washer on it. Slightly thicker than the felt washers and a very snug fit on the drain plug. I used that over 50k miles without a single drop leaked. But of course I wrecked it trying to get it off the plug so now Im stuck with the felt ones

How many washers can you buy for the price of the valve?

$25 valve cuts time and mess out of changing oil. Pull the clip off and flip the valve. After draining, shut the valve and snap the clip on. Worth the $25 in my book.

hahaha.. he is my regular parts guy. we are familiar with each other. i was hanging back trying to finish up before i approached him. he waved me in..

but yea. i know what you are saying. he is damn near next door to my Contractor office. so it was convienent as heck. $3 bucks a washer is astronomical, but i'm not mad about it. it was funny after the fact. i bet i have been paying that amount for a long time. i usually forgo the reciept anyways.

Just sent a rear bumper back to Amazon, It looked like a 6th grad shop class made it right down to the chrome plating that wasn't in spots never mind the fact the plastic bits didn't line up either Proudly made in China by child labor.

Are you sure he charged you for the right drain plug gasket? Engine oil drain plug gasket (flat fiber coated washer) is around ~$1, while the tranny oil drain plug gasket (metal crush washer) is around ~$3. You did actually get the correct one, right? I know folks out in your area overpay for everything, but my God if this wasn't due to a simple mistake then your guy straight up bent you over.

I called the dealer to see if they had a diff seal in stock and to put my name on it. Went to pick it up and at the last minute remembered I needed a crush washer. She goes back to get one and legit starts a new transaction for a $1.25 crush washer.

Not exactly sure what you're trying to get at with this post, but I'll just add the crush washers on the diff are about half the price as the tranny crush washers.

Dealership I have used sends things out themselves and own their store on Amazon. Believe me, I checked and double checked.

Local dealer charged 1.80 for the washer and 7.99 for the filter or slightly less than $11 with tax. Higher than what’s online but would have cost more in gas to drive to a different dealer to save $2 Still inexpensive insurance to know it’s not counterfeit.
