$388.00 pr mo. x 60 mo = $23,280.00 & you're getting 2500 less mi. That means it only cost you appx. $10.00 pr mi to drive the one you own now. What a bargain !!!

They can offer way over book value because they'll just make the list price of the new vehicle more. Here is an example..

When I got out of tech school I had a little craftsman toolbox with a chest on it. Got it at Sears, it got me through school and got me started at work. The Snap-on and Matco tool dealers immediately tried to sell me one of their big boys. The snap-on dealer was honest and told me he could give me about $250 trade in value. The matco guy was telling me my little craftsman box was worth $1,000!

I was like, wow what a great deal! One of the older techs pulled me aside and explained that the matco guy is simply going to add $1,000 to the new box.

I ended up buying a used snap-on box for 3k and it's still got room left for more tools

Never ever give your vehicle to a stealership because that’s exactly what your doing is giving them a free vehicle to that shinny 10-24k they “give you” for your trade in gets lost in the paper work
They show you numbers and say here’s you 24k for trade in now here’s all the fees to buy this brand new vehicle and at the end of the day

Your trade in becomes 0$ and you now owe more on the vehicle your buying

I do not doubt that there are some unscrupulous dealerships out there. For the most part, they are just businesses trying to make a profit on their 'franchise'. If you don't like the deal, walk away - no one is holding a gun to your head. Or see if you can get them to sweeten it - you might be surprised how far you can go if you stick to your guns. Or sell your truck on the open market yourself if you think you can do better. Do whatever you want.

I've said it before on this board a couple times at least - dealers really vary a lot. Shop around, or whatever. All dealerships are not evil.

It just seems to me some people just really like to be outraged all the time. Must be a weird way to live.

All dealers in Albuquerque are evil. Period. Both are owned by Larry H. Miller. Santa Fe dealer isn't any better.

If they really offered you that I would jump on it. No offense but your truck is nothing special and you'll never get another offer like that.

Salesman at the dealer I just bought my DD from was bragging/amazed at how ripped off the couple just got on their trade in. He was selling em a new car and gave em a ridiculous trade in offer.

I seriously hate dealers. From their scummy financing approach to the ridiculous offers on vehicles.

:) they probably hate buyers to, from they’re ridiculously high expectations on they’re trades to they’re condescending approach to buying cars .

Haha I understand they provide a service when it comes to trade ins. They take the hassle out and they pay rent on the real estate the vehicle sits on.
I still think that the trade in prices are ridiculous.

I don't think I'll ever not feel a sleezy feeling from the dealerships.
I know some people aren't the most financially smart and I think they take advantage of that unfortunately. Especially when it comes to financing.

I can do way, way better on Craiglist than what the dealer offers me!

My truck is the least sought after model and way too old to warrant these solicitations. Are the dealers making offers ONLY if you trade in, or can you sell it to them (at their offer) and not buy anything? Just curious.
