Ha I was about to say the same thing. The 2nd Gen interior has just as much plastic as the 3rd Gen, maybe even more? The interior of the 3rd Gen's is much less "spartan" than the 2nd Gen Tacos, for better or worse

I have been checking Carvana frequently and have seen +$5K over what I paid for mine a few times. Highest has been $6K over.

I did this spring 2020 and thought it was the greatest approach— sign up on autotrader and have a bunch of dealers come to you from home via phone/email; wait until one give you a real offer on paper that is reasonable- only then go into the dealership so the negotiation is done and it’s just the financing (which st that time was 0% apr on a 5yr but I suspect that won’t come back for some time). Great advice.

But you’re going in, right? If you’re happy with what you’ve got, kept it. If you want a new truck, seize the opportunity. Win-win for everyone, but guarantee you’ll be walking away with almost the same truck for a lot more. Have you seen the current market prices!? Yikes. My 2 cents, if you weren’t interested in a swap before the call, just keep it.

That happened to me just before the shortages. I was ready to get rid of my 19 for the quirky noises and small anoying issues. I'm very happy with my 21, just wish I didn't have do the dealership dance. it would be nice to be in a better position of leverage

Can you imagine how well Hertz Rental would be if they didn’t sell off their inventory at the height of COVID until now?

I was approached during my last service, and even if the offer was in my favor, they didn't have a single new Tacoma on the lot for me to buy.

I dunno. Paid off my wife’s 2019 Camry SXE last year (bought in Nov 2018) and now have one more payment left on my 2019 Tacoma (bought new 12/28/19). Sort of looking forward to having no car payments for the next 10 to 12 years. Busted my onions to get loan/payment free. Would hate to have to start over …

I saw pictures of a window sticker on a brand new Tundra TRD PRO at a dealer in Colorado; It was marked up to like $80K!

Yeah mines a 2011 and was paid off in 2016. I’m definitely enjoying no payments. I have no intention of getting into that again so I know what you’re saying. BTW I couldn’t figure out what I wanted for dinner tonight? Was one of those evenings where I couldn’t pin point it!! Chicken Tacos it is!! Lmao. Thx for the idea!!

It's all krazy-town, gonna be this way deep into 2022.
Note that these are 'used'..., not even 'new'.

Those are probably from their fleet [rental] vehicles, it is a way for dealers to get more vehicles than what they are allocated. Might have only 12-15 miles on them, but since they were purchased as fleet they have to be deemed used.

What my dealer did on mine. Didn’t pay those prices though. Was able to get a better warranty vs. new too.

Seemed a little screwy at first, but it all worked out.

When I took mine in for service last month the dealer offered me $1000 more than I paid for it. I told him "No thanks, what am I going to drive when you don't have any inventory?".

A $2000 Corolla while investing the 40k you got out of an overpriced gen 2.1 and then buying back into it 12 months from now for 20k, yet having made that exact amount in the market and pocketing the 40?

Don’t do it, @Rick4657 ! That’s like a year without sex with the potential promise of sex like two extra times in 2022! (I’m a mathematician by trade.)
