that is valid, but the dealership does mark up the lender rates and get kick backs for sending them clients

Quoted $28,500USD trade-in + tax credit on my '17 DCSB OR MT (90k miles, $35k OPP) and $37-40k for a new 2022 (same model).
3-4 months order delivery for MT.
Major dealer in SLC (ex-basketball player).

Not sure how some are getting seemingly near retail quotes on your used 3rd gens.

Still, that's an amazing trade-in price. Only reason I wouldn't do it is to not have a car payment again.

Where are you? Sounds like the demand is lower in Utardia. While picking up the little lady's 2 door Bronco here in Virginia I was told $31k for a 2018 SR 4x4 V6 with 66k miles by the sales manager after a 5 minute (in person with the truck) conversation.

That sounds low for a trade-in as opposed to cash out the door in the current climate.. but as crazy as things are I imagine the #s can swing day to day and by region.

You went 1/2 the way to the moon on yours and still got nearly 30k… which is more than generous

I get a couple calls a week. Their offers would leave me with 12k or so towards a new truck. It's awfully tempting.

Sorry i didnt update sooner. So I talked to the Dealership and they wouldn't give me an estimate about trade in Value but said it was "considerably" more then most would expect. They wanted me to look at what new Tacoma i would buy to replace. They would price it, order it and wanted a $500 deposit. When the vehicle arrived in XX months ( if it wasn't one of the only 2 already on the lot) then i could decide at that time whether i wanted the vehicle still or not at that time and that's when they do the trade in estimate. The Sales manager wasnt even willing to give me a ballpark estimate for trade in. What the sales girl told me was its basically a dealer auction. They conference with 3-4 other interested dealers, figure what they think they can can get for the vehicle and whats its trade in value is and present you with a trade in Value proposal at that time.

They arent really caring if you dont take the New Tacoma that was ordered and don't mind if you dont close the deal because they now have a new Tacoma on the lot to sell and New vehicles are moving like hotcakes. If you reject the vehicle they give you back your deposit and deal doesn't happen. I didn't take the deal and just told the sales manger if he wasn't willing to even give me a ballpark number on the trade in Value so i could run some approximate numbers on payments etc and i had to wait form this Mystery trade in proposal for another XX months then i wasn't willing to order anything or give them a deposit to collect interest on for a few months. I left them with a message of when they decide to get serious about their offer and a trade in Value then I'll maybe decide to listen.

Went in today for the bed light recall to fix possible leaking. Toyota Escondido tried really hard to buy my 2019, I passed. There were two black Tacoma’s out front with some aftermarket modifications. The side window sticker looked like $8,500 markup plus $1,500 security system.

I received a letter last month, telling me that I can upgrade from my 2019 TRDOR to a 2021 TRDOR for $9,176. Pass. Today I get a letter telling me I can upgrade to a 2022 TRDOR for $6,298. Three years newer, new 3-year warranty, new ToyotaCare plan with roadside assistance. Hmmm. Seriously considering it.

I bought my (new) 2021 DCSB TRD OR Manual on 5/31 for $34,000. Sales tax was $500. So, $34,500 OTD including all dealer fees.
Zero options, port adds or dealer adds.

It's called ACV (actual cash value) old car dealer term but new app based way dealers buy and sell vehicles wholesale.
They list the vehicle and other dealers bid. Very short term auctions. Buy/sell fees are reasonable and trades can be monetized faster than ever.

Went to the dealer. They offered me 35K for my 2019 TRDOR or 6k and a new truck. However, they didn't have any 2022 TRDOR trucks coming in that had the same packages as my truck (tech package, leather seats, etc.). I had to pass.
