I'm starting a new post from the original 'Blue Puff of Smoke on Start Up'.

YOU GUYS WERE 110% correct (not like I doubted you). The technician working on my 2008 2.7 Tacoma told me yesterday my truck did not have an external PCV valve and could not be changed without replacing the entire valve cover. Thanks to you guys and your information and images I finally took a picture of mine. It was exactly where you guys said it was. I called and emailed the service manager, explained the situation to him and explained I do not trust anyone in that dealership to ever touch my vehicle again. I don't know if my plugs were ever pulled, etc. to check for the original possible oil leak. Well the service manager seems livid with the technician and pissed off to the highest level of pisstivy (or he's a damn good actor). He said of course there's a PCV valve and your picture even shows it and I have one in my hand. He offered to change it etc. personally free of charge and would deal with the technician immediately. I told him I appreciate the offer, but I will not was my time or gas driving another 30 miles for a $7 part.....I suggested he just deal with his incompetent Toyota Expert technician, that's should be your top priority as he shouldn't even be allowed to wash cars without supervision.

AGAIN A HUGE HUGE HUGE THANK YOU for all of you taking the time to answer all of my questions and offer your advice!!

and another story of a dealership not knowing wtf they are doing.

and another reason why my truck never goes to the dealer unless its 100% absolutely necessary.

I would think anyone armed with the diagram and a wrench could change the PVC out. I'd look around for a local mechanic - ask your friends and neighbors and don't go to that dealer for anything - as someone said they are idiots.

I can walk (no pun intended) my 14 year old daughter through how to do it. I can see it from my chair, just can't reach it!! I agree, that dealership does not exist to me anymore. Thanks George!

I was going to stay far far away from this but....the guy sounds competent but just can't reach into the engine bay to do the work himself. He uses a wheelchair. Short of having a Tom Cruise Mission Impossible wire system or , like he said have is 14 year old daughter do it, I'm sure he depends on someone else to help him.

It was never determined, but from what I hear from the others it's not uncommon. It's a 1.5 second puff of blue smoke from the exhaust on cold start ups. After that nothing until it sits overnight.

Don't know yet, I'll provide feedback once it's replaced.
