Not being biased here, if you're not too keen with vinyl wrap and not inclined to spend hundreds on a roll plus a couple days, I'd suggest taking it to a specialist. You'll get a quality product and a warranty to go with it.

Also, like someone said earlier up there, $3,500 for a full wrap is not steep

I'm hoping someone who has done it themselves would post up some tips. Lots of information on YouTube, but too overwhelming.

I'm looking at wrapping a Velomobile (fancy word for pedal car). It's a bicycle, but I want to wrap this with that electric lime green that screams "don't hit me".

I'm still cruising along at 25 to 30 mph via pedal power. On my touring bicycle, I'm doing 12 mph (think wind drag). So a 15-mile commute is 30 minutes, ya afternoons get hot but I can save gas money for beer!

I can support some of the numbers here, I did a full wrap in matte black, and that 3500-5000 range is probably a pretty common range to do a good, full vehicle wrap. Some can depend on the specific material chosen (some has ceramic protection, as an example of a factor that might have a significant impact on material costs), but most is going to be in the quality of the work.

Actually I roll it back, thats about the same price as my camper. I wont get any skinnier sitting in my camper, but at least a friend can sit in there with me.

But to answer the question, add more lights for visibility. :D

There's a guy I see in DC all the time riding down by the Mall who has something similar but probably much cheaper. It's just a recumbent bike with a clear plastic removable body that acts as wind break. Probably not as fast as the Velo but still pretty quick. I'll be pushing myself at top speed (maybe ~25) and this dude will cruise past me.

"Coroplast recumbent" should bring some variations on Google. (all enclosed).

It's when you get out in the country that these things shine.

I'm the first to admit a plain bicycle makes the most sense. I no longer have the balance to ride on two wheels, so use three. I still like traveling by bike, but the Velo would ease me to cover 200 miles (flatlands). Long hills are just slow, but they're getting over the top, and they pick up speed. So six miles, with three miles up at four mph hour, then zip down the backside at 60 mph. The Texas Hill Country has many rolling hills, so it's fun to speed up downhill and let the momentum carry you over the next hill. You have to pedal like crazy, but it's fun.

For those who ride motorcycles, I do get it. Highway 337 in Texas is a blast, so this is like you are doing the luge on downhill sections! Makes all that work getting up the hill worth it!

Obviously the difference with a motorcycle is you don't get any exercise. I like riding my (pedal) bike more than I did riding a motorcycle in DC despite being perpetually sweaty.

Use to ride bicycles an awful lot (to a point of obsession) then they started costing as much as motorcycles, so I kinda switched. Still have 4 bicycles, but haven’t updated in years.
