:D Trying my best. It has been a fun (and chalanging) project, but I am more than ready to have it on the road now.

Or just change the title to "Wrecked '02 TRD/Pre - to - Diesel/4wd swap" :D

Looks better without the chrome, make sure to "un-chrome" the grill and bumpers too :)
I would say my favorite color now is the gold-colored Tacoma, those wheels would look amazing on it.

Thanks, I still think there are others that are ahead of me on best build status though. Aside from the drivetrain swap my build is largely bolt-ons.

Sort of. I'll be running my stock exhaust till I get the 3 inch stainless one fabbed up. As far as coal goes, I probably won't have much of that with the tune I'm running.

Deffinately planing to black out the rear bumper. I'm building a plate bumper for the front, and as far as the grille goes I went body color. I stole the look from Delta00 except that I vinyl wrapped the TOYOTA letters in brushed titanium. I thought it looked better with Lunar Mist.IMG_4608.jpg

What kind of power does this engine make, with the mods you've done?

I should be running 150hp 300lb-ft+ at the wheels. If/when I put it on a dyno I'll post the results.

Thanks man, looks really good, you obviously have some talent.
I've never seen a vw diesel conversion, so I really want to see how you did all that, mounts, transmission adapter, electrical, etc.

Sure. I did a really bad job of taking pictures along the way, so I only have a few. The adapter is 1/2" thick plate drilled, tapped, and guide pins added as needed. I used the R155F tranny (2nd gen 4cyl) because it has wider ratios than the R150F (1st gen 6cyl) and the W59 (1st gen 4cyl). It ended up being a pain getting the starter to fit though because the 155 has it on the left, and the way the things is set up there's no room for it over there on the diesel. I ended up having to bolt one side of the starter to the adapter plate, and the other side to the bell housing. It works fine now. It was just a time consuming pain. I'm using the Toyota starter with an '87 22RET flywheel doweled and redrilled for the VW crank. I have a Oilite bronze pilot bushing, and an LCE dual comp clutch/pressure plate. The left engine mount is totally custom fabbed, but on the right side I was able to use the Toyota mount. I did have to move it down and forward on the frame though. For wiring I'm running a stand alone harness (built by a friend) for the TDI. The Toyota and VW computers don't have to share info since it's a manual transmission. Basically it's just at the battery, ignition, and cluster that they overlap.IMG_4568.jpgIMG_4563.jpg IMG_4570.jpg
