    I don't think it'll take much convincing.

Best of luck, brother! Let us know how it goes!

I have investigated over 500 crashes (at least 40 of them were tacos) and sorry to tell you that I have never seen front end damage like that on a Tacoma under 30 mph. That damage at low speeds is reserved for shit box cars like nissans.

Keep in mind most adjusters don't know near as much as they lead you to believe, and 90% of the time once a car gets into the body shop, the tech will find more additional damage that the adjuster missed, or was to lazy to write. So if it makes it to a shop let them know that you'd rather it be totaled vs repair

Wow talking about a blanket statement.

Most of the time the damage reported after the vehicle is in the body shop wasn't on the original estimate is because it was hidden damage. They know this going in and it has nothing to do with the adjuster.

    Everybody Knows This.

I hit an asshole hauling ass on a sidewalk riding against traffic on a bicycle a week ago. As it turns out, bicyclists are lawless bastards as long as they ARE on the sidewalk in this city. :frusty: He rode off the sidewalk DIRECTLY into a busy parking lot intersection without looking/caring and it's looking like I'm "legally" at fault.

My truck is ok though. :burnrubber:

The adjustor had my truck moved to the local Toyota Dealership that has a collision center. I'm going to meet with him Monday Morning. This was They can pull things off the truck and put it on a lift to see just how extensive the damage it.

Boo - now you have to wait until Monday!

I agree with above posters - it's the body shop that makes the real beans and sausage. Talk to them if you're thinking it's totaled.

You're right, I stated that it was missed damage, meant as hidden damage, but I've worked with far to many adjusters that simply wrote horrible estimates from the beginning, not just because they didn't see something because it'd be right in front of them, but more like they just wanted to get in and out and be on their way.

State Farm seems like they want to get this taken care of quickly. I've never had an issue with them before. I talked to the guy at the Dealership and he said that it would be right on the border of being totaled.

Sorry buddy that sucks. Hopefully everything will work out and you'll get it totaled. It looks close if not over the edge already and the fact that the Bags deployed should help your case. Make sure you talk to the mechanic at Toyota and explain to them that you feel unsafe if it is fixed in the current condition that it is. That may help push them to advise the insurance adjuster total it out, especially if you have a established relationship with the tech already.
A 6 pack to the mechanic always helps!!!

I just got off the phone with the adjustor and he said $9000 in damages but not totaled. He also said it would take a lot to total it out. I really do not want this truck back.

Ugh, sorry to hear that brother. I would get up in communications with the body shop that's handling it ASAP and let them know your concerns. I'd be courteous about it, but let them know that you also noticed some mechanical issues when moving the truck post-collision. Not sure if that has been evident to them yet - did the adjuster ask you that?

This is one of the few bad things about owning a Tacoma with resale values so high. My old 2000 got really mangled up with lots of suspension and frame damage and they fixed it instead of totalling and it was in the body shop for 48 days, never really felt right after getting fixed.

They will fix it, and if you really don't want it back, sell or trade it in on another....it is one of the unfortunate things that happens when you smash up your vehicle....and the payments don't stop, assuming your are making payments....a good shop can make it look as good as new....like I stated before, and because there was no bumper on the vehicle you hit, more than likely your frame just slid under and got little or no real damage....where it get a little kinky is if the fenders crammed back on the doors enough to skew things in that area....mostly sheet metal and some engine bay parts....

Good luck with the repairs, gonna be awhile before it is fixed...

I took it to the local Toyota dealership. I'm gonna go there once my mom gets back with my rental car. That was just an original estimate with the visible damage. Once they pull the radiator support off they will revaluate the estimate and go from there.

I hope it doesn't take more than 25 days cause thats all the coverage I have for a rental car and I can't afford that plus my deductible and payment.

As far as getting it fixed in 25 days, depends on how busy the shop is, you are at the mercy of the repair gods....if the frame is okay, it is a matter of taking it apart, ordering all the parts, putting it back together and painting....definitely isn't going happen as quick as you may want it. Hopefully it will go quickly...

Dude.... that sucks, and I would be surprise if $9k will fix that completely. Again I would talk to the shop that will be fixing it and try and see if they don't agree about your concerns. Its gonna be a while to fix this bad boy though, especially if they have to keep re-ordering parts because they keep finding more damage. Sorry many wish it was totaled out.
