For every damaged body panel, there's a rock crawler who had cut it away intentionally:

I'm actually an ins adjuster so I see this everyday. What you can do in the meantime is search for market values for your truck.. Search comparable vehicles w/comparable mileage (both private and dealer sales) and print them out. Also, check KBB and Edmonds.com to see what your truck was worth prior to accident.. Before pics would also help. If you had any add ons, such as the camper, be sure to have receipts and or values for those items, as that can come into play.. The more you do your research and can convince the adjuster how much your vehicle is truly worth, the more they'll accomodate.. Be sure to have documentation to back it up though.. As you know, tacomas have a higher resale value than KBB usually states, so be prepared to prove it (using the market surveys you've obtained).
    Good luck man!

And yeah, after the writeoff you can usually buy your wreck back from the Insurance company for a heavily discounted price (depending on how they operate and your state's laws). They do that because it's easier for them than crushing it or trying to auction it off. At that point you can either potentially profit from a part-out thread on here or build an awesome trail rig out of it (or a bit of both- a trail rig doesn't need good body panels or interior plastics). I'd definitely look into it.

Insurance company was really good to me. Without much hassle I got 21,500. Truck was 7 years old with 75,000 on it. I only paid 23,00 new. Just another reason to own a Tacoma. I saw their data sheets and they compared sales prices on 5 other vehicles within 100 miles of here. Two were v6's!

I was able to replace it exactly but it took two weeks to find and was the only one like it in California. It's the SR5 model with all those real nice extras like the back up video. I know some of you were drooling over the possibility of parts but they wanted too much for a buy back and I've got plenty of other projects at the moment.

All's well that ends well but I'm not parking this one anywhere near a tree.

    Happy New Year!

Its pretty obvious you didn't get the TSB done by the way your truck is sagging.
