We used to have a freeway onramp that had 2 left hand turn lanes, but the right most left hand turn lane would allow you to go straight or to go left onto the freeway via green light for straight or green arrow for left.

Nonetheless, lots of accidents there, people stopping for the left and people thinking they're going straight just plowing them down.

Then to make it worse, THEY CHANGED IT SO IT ACTUALLY MADE SENSE!

They removed the right most left hand turn lane and made it straight only. That should resolve the problem correct? Wrong.

The people that have been used to the old system stop at what used to be the right most left hand turn lane and get rear ended all the time.

I was coming back from lunch and got caught on the other side of the beltway in that backup. I had to do some back roading to get back to the office. I knew something had happened while I was out. :D

kinda funny how the front bumper popped off and went flying. and looks like someone was hurt, because someone took and ambulance ride.

has there ever been a wreck while they're cleaning up another wreck? i would be terrified to be a tow truck driver/medic/cop called to that intersection!

That wasn't the front bumper. That was the rear bumper of the silver car!

oh it looked like the front bumper.
i think it’s kinda fu’ed up that we look forward to these videos but kinda funny at same time.
x3 i noticed that as well. they probably just have someone driving around the area close by so when one happens they can get to it fast and pick up a tow.

Just a bunch of old crap
This is a great thread. I used to have a corner desk at my old office that was full window on both sides. I had a clear view of a moderately busy intersection right outside the window and we'd have a crash there at least once a month.

My desk had an extension on it which allowed me quite a bit of space for personal items. As accidents would happen, I was usually one of the first people to respond to the wrecks and occasionally had to offer medical services. I was a HAZMAT first responder and FF2 so I loved having a chance to help others.

Anyways, I made it my goal to grab a piece of wreckage from each crash and put it on my desk as a souvenir. I probably had 6 different hubcaps, various cool pieces of chrome trim, and other unique wreck souvenirs over the 2 years I was there. Nobody ever died out there, thankfully, but I saw some pretty messed up folks during that time.

    Glad you're enjoying it!

My designers got together and took donations for a second camera. The camera that's in my window will only take 720P video so we have to upgrade. :D

The new camera, is still a web cam, but is capable of 1080P at 30fps. So we'll have the new camera positioned in the old spot and the old camera will go two floors up and face West. The new position will look West down westheimer and should catch all the stuff that is blocked by the side of the building in the current view.

The new camera should be operational by next Tuesday.

    Stay tuned! :D
