Panhandling with an obviously fake limp.

Probably a panhandler, he or she walks with a limp. And as I'm posting, I realized I'm slow so this is obsolete.

People do all sorts of crazy things at intersections. I saw a guy and a gal at one with a guitar in the rain/sleet just yesterday.

I believe we're at 16 on video, and there have been a few that I missed due to not being at the office.

The guy might have made it, if the pedestrian wasn't watching for the walk sign. Freaking walkers! Coming from the guy that walks to work everyday.

You should track down the civil engineer who designed that intersection and give him your greatest 'hits' video :D

Yep, we get panhandlers up here too - they just don't normally wander into traffic like that.

that's not the intersection in the videos. that's just another intersection in houston (about 20 minutes from where the videos are shot) that i used to drive through every day, with a similar level of clusterfuck going on.

    Nothing wrong with the intersection.
There's a problem with the gene pool.

This kind of thing happens all the time.
I've got a couple of intersections that seem to have some kind of incident once a month, though one of them had accidents two evenings in a row (and the PD tells me that we are significantly below average for LA County).

Reviewed the video, morons pushing the yellow when they have plenty of room to come to a safe stop, or moron waiting to make a left turn, light goes yellow, and they freak out thinking that as if by magic, if they're still there when it turns green for cross traffic, that all 4 of the front cars will immediately plow into them.... and depending on the intersection, they have at least 1 second of all-red clearance, and most of the major intersections have 2 seconds.

If you're in the intersection and it goes yellow, wait until you can clearly see oncoming traffic is stopping. If there's ANY question, wait for it to go red. Worst that will happen is someone might honk their horn at you.

But don't be the idiot that blindly follows someone through a left turn... I've seen that 3 times this year.

lol. they do about the same here as the guy in the video... i know one officer that has arrested the same lady for panhandling like 5 times at the same 2 intersections. kinda funny really other officers have arrested her as well. sometimes she tried to run/hid but they still get her. you would think they would learn but they don’t.
 i have almost hit a few that where j walking like 100’ from an intersection.

I'm no civil engineer but I 'get' traffic flow pretty good after sitting (aka driving) in it for the past 17 years in NJ/PA/NY and that ...VVV.... my fine sir is a clusterfuck in my book.

Ive never seen such a retarded intersection in all my life... and we don't even lave left turns in my state so thats saying allot

Here's the actual intersection. North is up in the picture, and the white building in the lower right hand corner is me.

One of the problems is that (to my knowledge), Houston does not have any red light cameras. not saying that every intersection needs them by any means, but the fact that the drivers know this means that there is much less incentive to not run a newly red light. safety goes out the window aparently when there's no risk of a ticket :(
