Wrench Meet/ Mod Day/ Whatever DFW

It is a stock grille that was modified for a billet insert. Yeah, the tab is not important, it will mount without it just fine, just wanted to try and fix it if possible and easy. Plus I would kind of like to learn about fiber glassing for working on boats. More or less fix it for fun and exerience. I'll bring it and possibly pick up a small fiberglassing kit.

 

Ok, well we can play with it and see what we can do to fix that.

 

I have a side driveway, a carport for two vehicles and some gravel, got electric impact, air impact, all rachets, sockets, bondo, etc. So we are shooting for the weekend after Father's Day right

ya the DOM tubing is just currently way to over priced for me to want to try bulding something like this at home with, would be too costly to screw up, also thinking of trying out some 1" commercial sprinkler pipe we have sitting around here at work that stuff is about 1/8" thick so more than strong enough for some mild hits off roading.

 

I can help with the fiber glass. You might also want to pick up some plastic weld at the hardware store. Its just a fast drying 2 part epoxy but seems to work really well on plastic. You WILL need some latex gloves to work with the fiberglass. Resin is a huge PITA to get off your hands.
I am thinking you can use some of the extra plastic from someone's grill that they cut and make a new tab. My tab is broke as well so I was going to look at this option.

 

ya the weekend after fathers day works for me, thats the 25th of june for that saturday, ill be driving the truck up to CO that next weekend, so if I get this skid done and if I have time to do the new front coil overs the 12 hour drive would be a nice tester

 

damnit I just checked the calendar im on call that weekend of the 25th so have to come in for mandatory overtime that weekend and if there are contractors here working (which there always is) then ill have to stay and baby sit them till their done, which lately has been all freaking day from 630AM till about 3-4pm .....

 

Can anyone cover your shift?

 

all weekend or just Saturday?

 

can maybe switch that weekend with someone, it would only be for saturday, just if something happened at one of the buildings anytime that weekend I would have to come in and fix it :/....just before I try and switch would need to make sure we are doing that weekend, cause I dont want to switch an on call weekend with someone unless I have too, gives them the chance to then want me to take their shift for a shitty/ holiday weekend they may have.

 

I was just gonna say we could have it on Sunday if that was cool with everyone, but if you can get Saturday, that's cool, just need to make sure everyone is cool with Saturday after Father's day

ok so I swapped a guy for his june 10th-12th weekend so ill be free the 24th-26th of june now. ...I'd say we shoot for that saturday the 25th that way if anything gets screwed up then everyone has all sunday to fix the screw up. :/

 

I'm game - just tell me when/where. Are we going to do food kinda like we did for the last meet?

damn my build thread is 1 away from having 1000 views .....makes me feel so proud of the 12.5k it took to build the damn truck .

 

There are so many under appreciated builds out there and alot of over hyped onez

As for overhyped rigs - yeah, a lift and tires is a "rig". But what about all the other parts that make a rig bullet proof?

 

I'll see what I can get, I may just go the epoxy route and if we have time practice with the fiberglass independently.
