Still doing research on the battery/intake swap for my 4Runner. If I do it I will probably wait till then to do it. Give us a little variety to work on...

Yep - change the battery and intake box around. Gets the intake tube away from the radiator and stops the engine from breathing through that twisted little straw. This mod has been done for years (oldest post I found about it was from 2005 I believe and he said it was an old mod). Reports range from a simple gain in throttle response to a 2 mpg increase and a stronger pulling motor all the way through the power band.

The attached pics are a before and after look. The first pic is a well done swap. The second pic is the stock setup. Lots of difference between the two.

Is the K&N cold air system really worth the $250? Im debating on getting it... It mentions a 7hp increase (dont know HOW true that may be) but idk if i really need it or not?

Does it mention a 7 hp increase of "up to" 7 hp increase? I always hate that "up to" clause. Doesn't mean you will get 7 hp; just means someone has before.

The stock intake is already a CAI. It pulls air from the fender well. My ultragauge intake temp usually reads 3 degrees warmer than the outside air temp. I'd say that's pretty damn good.

You'll see no difference except for sound with the K&N CAI.

I think it does add some power and frees up the intake system cause the stock intakes on the 4.0's have this plastic pipe that curves up and feeds into this large i guess tank then into the throttle body which seemed kinda restrictive compared to the straight pipe from the fender to the throttlebody

Another reason for ucas... I think they are part of the reason my duratracs got eaten up so quick. not perfect alignment means bad tire wear. I dont wanna buy new tires again and ruin them again. plus I'm not so sure I just might do what zech did and get a tail rig for cheap b4 I put a locker in my dd

Which UCA's you decide on again? You going to be installing them yourself or doing it at the meet? So we can all laugh as you try to get those bolts out...:rofl::rofl::rofl:
