I had tried it both ways earlier. And I went and just tried it again just in case I goofed up. Doesn't work either way. But the second I pop the old bulb back in it works. Can anyone confirm if this bulb should work?

LEDs are polarity sensitive. Since you flipped it around and it didn't work.
You must have a bad bulb.

Yep. 578 is correct. Probably a bad bulb

LED's are a pain in the ass. You need to really research and find a quality LED and then make sure it is inserted properly.

I've read way to many issues caused by LEDs on this forum. I'll stick to stock bulbs they work and rarely need to be replaced. My last truck at 20 years old the only bulbs I ever replaced was the sealed beam headlights.

Is it possible you have to Dome switch OFF?
It is On, On when Door open, and OFF

Mystery solved! I hooked the new LED bulb to a power supply and it worked. What?? Then I checked the voltage in the dome and it is correct. Then I put the bulb in (didn't work) and was checking voltage and as soon as my probe touched the end of the bulb and the dome light contact, the light came on. So there was no contact between the dome light and the bulb, on one side.

The Sylvania bulb has different dimensions than OEM. The contacts are further apart. It is really easy to see side-by-side. So the middle glass part (where the LEDs are) is larger diamater than the metal contact, and that was pushing out the clamp(?) that holds one contact on the bulb. All I had to do was wrap some wire around the bulb contact, shove it into place, and now the wire is forcing contact and it all works.

You can see here how the white part pushes apart the contact. And no, I couldn't get it to wiggle side to side and touch on both sides. I could never get both sides to make contact at the same time. But the little bit of wire did the trick.

    Thanks guys!

    Thanks for the update.
If it works for, good enough.
I personally like things to be right. But I’m OCD like that.

I don't love this. But I don't want to buy another bulb. I don't know another solution, like I said, side-by-side this bulb and OEM are not the same dimensions. I'm going to write this off as "clever workaround" and live with it.

The white part shouldn’t even be inside the contacts, on my truck the bulb fits correctly. That could be a manufacturing defect. At least it’s working.

You mean a defect in the bulb? Or my dome light contacts are pushed in towards each other, causing them to touch the white part? I should have taken a picture of the bulbs side-by-side, it is real obvious the dimensions are different.

Have you looked into the replacement led that Meso offers on here? They blow those things away with light output. I replaced mine first with a bulb like yours and then decided to try the Meso and holy crap! You can get a suntan with his.

Seriously Meso hasn’t had second gen domes available for over a year.

Mine didn't work at first so I turned it 180, still didn't work. I then turned the bulb back and forth, and removed/inserted it a couple of times, now it works.

Found the problem they make 2 types of 578 bulbs you need the zevo bulb. Here are the two types you’ll see the differences. BE4960B0-3DE0-4473-AD9A-B379874B9218.jpg3506631E-55EE-411A-9B96-0DE586FAD542.jpg
