Wrong fluid for power-steering?

    My local dealer recommended Johnsen's too. I went with 3 quarts of this...

    Valvoline works just fine too.

    When i got my 175k dclb, the steering wasquite stiff. Pulled the cap and fluid smelled like old school ps fluid and not atf. Drained it ran a ps flush concoction and drained. Installed dex iii. Fixed right up and steering is now about what i expect for a mid size truck. Fluid type does matter. Sadly the records show that a toyota dealer did the fluid replacements. Scared to think what they put in my trans.
