Wrong oil in engine

    Well to be fair, I read pages 1 and 2, and skipped to page 16 and realized this is why we can't have nice things around here. I have no idea what happened. We went from engine failure to maple syrup, although I can understand why that was brought up. But you're a funny dude! :cheers:

    LOL!! I live in NH and help a good friend on my FD tap ~3500 taps, which we got about 550 gallons of syrup last season. One of my jobs is the fire box, talk about heat...

    That can only be possible if using an oil viscosity way higher like 50w, otherwise i don't see even 10w-30 causing any issues.

    Not that we care about the oil discussion any more, but depending on the 10W-30 shear stability it probably sheared to a 20wt after master tech dad was done beating on it. Thus, it would work itself into the "tighter tolerance" bearings. Although with the rod knock, I'm not sure how tight those tolerances are any more - probably measurable with a tape measure.

    I did not know toyota builds special 3.5 engines just for use in mexico to use a higher viscosity oil. I guess our southern states that border mexico are a much colder climate they have different engine clearances that can't use the same oil viscosity.
