Wrong oil in engine

Rereading the original problem statement while waiting for the OP, and I think dad might be right. It's possible the rod knock and overheating occurred and he labeled it a POS, then he got the truck to drive and it grenaded. Or, it all happened on his watch. Either way, him being a Toyota master tech, he knew Mexican 10W-30 wouldn't hurt it and it was already on its way out with the SC installed. Since TW jury of peers decided it wasn't the oil, the court finds him innocent.

 

I like my theory of low octane gas finding its way into the tank.... somehow.

Mine is assembled in mexico....and i knew this before i even seen the label on the door jam....

Ope so they did back it up to late 21 for Texas production. My bad, initially they said 20 would be the stop. Then again, maybe I could read the news more than once a year

 

Since mine is TexMex, you can use salsa oil.

 

They probably had parts in stock or in supply chain to the Texas plant and used up the stock producing there rather than ship them to Mexico.

 

Is that the one with the guacamoly additive to prevent wear?
