Oh for sure...I must have missed a supercharger.

Just curious, and this is splitting hairs here, but whats all the talk about the Mexico manual? It had me go check mine and says its printed in the good old US of A right on the back. I just assumed we all got the same manual that applied to all our Taco's no matter where we are. And obviously, we use the manual according to our specific region, but thats on us.
FWIW, mine says 0w20 only, or 5w20 but only for 1 change. I still dont believe 10w30 killed it, but this all had me curious what mine said.

andddd point made. Lesson to be learned folks; don't try shady stuff and tell the entire internet. Or just don't be shady in general. People can find out anything they want about you, and the truth always comes out.

My guess is that it has as much if not more to do with hitting fuel economy standards than it does for engine longevity. While Mexico is largely onboard with CAFE, there's a lot more room for manufacturers and the targets aren't as strict.

Here's the Mexican chart that gets posted...
    Capture.jpg

    Here's from a '16 owner's manual...
    Screenshot_20221114-114502_OneDrive.jpg

Can anyone show me the Mexican one is from a 2GR-FKS equipped '16+ Tacoma?
Where's the ILSAC grade? Mine calls out GF-5; I'm sure it's been superseded by GF-6A...

Either the OP is trolling for wahoo here or a whole bunch of things don't make any sense...or both. Can't wait to hear about the visit to the dealership.

hope you put 0w20 in it before you took it up there. says right in the manual 0w20 only. it says if you have to use 5w20, you need to switch it, the very next oil change. if your dad was driving it while you were gone, and he was maintaining it... this is on him. ESPECIALLY, IF TOYOTA DOESNT COVER IT. just my .02. Ski

Unreliable narratives and insanely bad decisions are common in hillybilly communities. Not judging OP but this sounds like some mountain man dum dum shit.

Looks like the newest on Toyota Mexicos site is 2019:
    https://www.toyota.mx/sites/default/files/manuales/OM-Tacoma-2019.pdf

Chart looks the same on page 413.
