Wrong oil in engine

    Pretty hard to feel sorry for anyone who owns a McLaren

    People buy those cars because they're expensive and then they can brag about how expensive the oil change is. That's the whole point.

    A quick look at the MP4-12C oil change procedure shows it's pretty in-depth, removing 33 fasteners to pull the bottom engine cover, removing the two turbo oil drain lines and replacing seals, etc. Not sure what the F1 looks like but a McLaren dealer website suggested some models required frame disassembly to complete the process.

    I guess once you hit that level you're either careful enough with your money you can afford the oil changes, or you spend with reckless abandon and can afford the oil changes.

    "7 figures plus" includes 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20 figure prices and those above as well. :p Also, the article linked mentioning the oil change price was just for an F1. They used a pic they found to show the car, but don't specify the cost as the LM only. Any F1 would have that cost, even the lowly 7 figure priced ones.

    I have seen a couple articles on the intertubes claiming that an oil change for Bugatti Veyron is $20K, as they have to do serious "take things apart to get to the oil pan/filter". Never having so much as seen a Bugatti in person, I can't vouch for the accuracy of this, but I suppose I am not surprised.

    There's a computer drain procedure on the chirron that is pretty in depth.

    And modern m series, the computer freaking knows if you put the wrong oil in or if it wasn't different brand. Sometimes. Things are damn sensitive.

    Also, the shop labor rate on a Bugatti isn't the $125ish/hr like Toyota is.

    I’m pretty sure I can undo 33 bolts and drain a couple turbo lines in a couple hours in my garage. I’m gonna offer McLaren oil changes at my house for the whopping discount of only $7500.00 (plus taxes). We’ll see how it goes!

    A friend of mine is a tech for a McLaren retailer.

    Hard pass. There's basically a guarantee that in the first 500 miles, it will be undriveable and need to be serviced at the dealer for some-odd thing. Reputation of poor reliability.

    I've been told Lambo is what you want if you're looking for more of a DD...if you have the means.

    Yeah but Toyota doesn't have technology according to car and driver. So therefore they are dinosaurs and are behind the times. Which is why your Tacoma taillights cost $150 to replace. But your buddy with a ranger needs to have Vin coded ECU programmable tail lights for... Reasons I guess
