The Toyota tech is going to be like "huh, a blown head gasket AND rod knock on a 2 year old engine?. Let's dig a little deeper!" Maybe they had it running on moonshine. Ya never know!

    Umm yeah...
Id argue calling people hillbillys and assuming those who live and work in said communities are basically idiots on a public forum is a bad decision.

I guess you must be from one of those "enlightened" communities.

You obviously don't know techs. We will, out of morbid curiosity try and figure out how something like this, had a catastrophic failure.

When I was consulting to Mercedes-Benz North America back in the late 1990s we did pretty much the same thing, only from a higher level. When any given dealership couldn't explain a failure, the entire vehicle was shipped to our shop in Montvale, NJ where we took an in depth forensic look at what happened.

0 vs 10 W just means when it's cold (W is winter). And they're actually pretty f'in close.

The second number is the weight, 20 vs 30 has to do with a steel ball through a tube or something like that. again, 20 and 30 are really damn close for all intents and purposes.

NASA going to the moon? Better damn well have the exact oil. A forgiving truck engine? Highly doubt the oil caused this.

This is assuming 10W-30, and not 30W-10. Since I don't think that 30W even exists.

Flat rate? Nah, I'm gonna isolate what is wrong with my uppers then send off our data to Toyota.

At most I take lower pan off, valve cover off, and oil sample. Beyond that requires authorization.

Two year old engine with a laundry list of atypical behaviors? A tech’s Rubik’s cube that they can’t wait to solve I’m sure. Lol

...then leave it stock next time.

I swear man some people either have too much CC debt or no perspective. Supercharged, geared, wheels, tires, kings. What's that like...15k in mods (without labor)?

    Go buy your new engine.

Nice to see the MX manual putting the To ThIcK FoR TIgHt BeArInGs:duh: BS to bed.
Same engine with the same specs with a called out temp range that has nothing to do with climate.

Quick Google search and you come up with this:
"Can I use 10w30 instead of 0W-20 oil?

If your vehicle requires 0W-20 weight oil and you use as much heavier weight 10W-30 the oil will not flow quickly enough to fill the spaces between the crank journals and main bearings while the engine is running. The oil won't form a consistent lubricating film, allowing metal-to-metal contact and wear."

Hope this will help with the debate on is it ok. Well sure, but just know, that this is what is going on in your engine. So if you are Okay with the heavier oil not flowing quickly enough to protect your bearing. Then who am I to tell you otherwise.
