Today I replaced my front and rear oxygen sensors, the old ones having 150k miles on my 2003 2.7L 4x4.
The front one was already bad and it has given me the error engine light for some time.
They are DENSOs I bought them from Rock Auto.
The problem is that the error light did not go off after installation of both.

The front sensor is for Tacomas with California emission req's.
My Tacoma is not from California.
I had talked with RockAuto to express my concern before installing it and the tech assured me that for my Tacoma it was the same as the original.
He said that for more complex emission systems there is a difference but that my system would recognize it and accept it.
    True or False?

Or maybe I have to disconnect the battery to get the error light to go off first or something?

Gotta reset the computer then wait to see if it returns. Sometimes they go away on their own but might take a couple hundred miles. Either use a OBDII code reader to clear the code or disconnect the battery for a couple minutes.
