I thought id share this with you guy's and let me know what you think...
So in the area that i used to live in we had problems with our low life neighbors and always have there just nothing nice.
I moved out of that area about a year or two ago and my mother had been there till she broke her hip and was not able to afford to pay for that house she moved out and all yesterday we went to go pick up her mail. "She wanted me to come so that way if there was any problems we could well i could stop them"
So we show up to the house and there's about Five guy's next store that are talking i get out to get the mail for her and then we would be on our way...
When i got out of the car one of the guy's (Nick) about 5'8-9 ish Got in my face while i was getting the mail and then i turned around and asked what his problem was after that he clocked me in the face twice i took it just fine backed up and knew that if i where to fight back his buddies would jump on in and it would be my word vs there 5. So after the mail was knocked out of my hands from been clocked in the face two time's i bent over and went to pick up the mail from the floor and while i was picking it up (Nick) walked about half way away from me then turned around and while still gathering the mail he kicked me in the face with some steel toe boot's. That's all i remember. My mother called the police they came out and asked what happen the other guy "Nick" Took off but before he left told his buddies you didn't see shit. So i then was driven back to my mother's place. Got a call later on and from what i was told the guy who took off "nick" Said that i antagonized him and that i went to charge him. ( Right my word vs there's) .... So the officer said id have to prove my case in order to press charges. . . So that was my day. And no nothing happen to the other guy. He got off free as a bird. [Pomona pd nice right]... I thought id share that. It's sad that people can get away with this. I talked to my Nco and he said that if i where to strike back it would not benefit me. Just get me in trouble. What's wrong with this picture!?

I would say Concealed Carry FTW, but then the thugs probably would have shot you and your mom and not cared a damn bit.

I would press charges. Take a look at the evidence. You have physical marks to prove where he beat you. He has nothing.

Get a hit crew together. Wait for him late night. Put a motorcycle sack over his face and pull the string tight then jump his ass.

You don't have to prove you your case to file charges.

That is up to the courts to decide not the cops. 5 vs 1 and you have the battle scars. File assault charges.

Take him to court and show the judge pic's. As they say Pic's or it did not happen.

    ok so your options are

a)press charges and present your case to court, possibly win and send the dirt bag to jail and possibly lose in which case you go on about your life

b)get a lynch mob together, assault the guy and his friends, probably get caught, spend a ton of money in fines, spend some time (possibly quite a bit) in jail, lose your job and get your friends in the same predicament

gee...what sounds like the good idea

I'm sorry but I have to ask. Why in th fuck would you basically turn your back on somebody that just assaulted you and give them a free shot? Did him punching you in the face not give you a clue he meant you harm?

I'm guessing it was the 5 other dudes that were ready to jump in if he retaliated.

I think OP did the smart thing by not engaging.

CA does allow CC, but they are a may issue state and it's up to each county sheriff. He'd have a chance as a transplant having reciprocity, but I don't think CA offers reciprocity w/ too many other states.

There ya go then...even less of a chance...lol. If the national reciprocity passes, wouldn't doubt it if they drop CC altogether. Same as HI.
