I have a 2018 Tacoma Sport with tow package. My trailer towing weights vary from 3800 lbs to 4800 lbs. I got sold a 8k-10k WDH at the trailer dealership. They said I would be good if I ever got a bigger truck and trailer. Too heavy a WDH?

Yes the WD hitch is to heavy but it can help control sway more than a lighter hitch. I tow the exact same weight with my '18 Tacoma and use a 6K Equalizer. The bars are designed to bend under load and my 6k hitch is designed for trailers weighing between 4 and 6K. When you use 10K spring bars the bars don't flex and it can make for a jarring ride over bumps but can control sway better. Check etrailer.com for the info. I believe they have a video. Also Equalizer has info on the importance of using the right size WD for the weight your pulling.

    I found a link.
