I'm looking to get some contrast out of my truck, and the next step would be a set of black fender flares. Not a fan of the bushwhackers, or their price...so if anybody has a set of base model flat black textured fender flares lying around, or would like to trade for mine (silver streak mica), PLEASE LET ME KNOW!

I'm in OC, so if you want to trade, you'd obviously have to be close. I'm not going to ship mine.

    Thanks for looking!

Rather than having to go through all of that for the slim chance someone would have some for sale, have you considered having them coated with Line-X?

Oh and by the way. My friend is Persian and he drives a Tacoma! He even has a Persian name! :p

^^^ Good idea! Plastidip is rubbery, temporary and peels right off.

I painted mine. :) Just sanded them down and sprayed on some bedliner.

They've held up great against branches and bushes, the snorkel on the other hand.. (not sprayed, just black plastic) did not do too well against the bushes and branches...

The last two pics above were taken on the same day after hitting some local trails. The fenders have no chips or scratches to this day, and they have not faded at all. Still as black as the day I sprayed it.

Very nice examples of painted flares! I'd love to do a plastidip, but I'm honestly not very confident in my painting/prepping skills whatsoever. I wanted to avoid disaster by just having a set of black ones that I can put on, and keep my silver ones if nobody wants to trade.

Will have to do some thinking...

Plastidip is nothing to worry about!! Just mask off and spray a few coats. It peels off if you don't like it. There really isn't any prep work needed to use plastidip, just make sure you don't wax the area for a while before hand. It's good practice! If you dont' feel comfortable, get a spray can of it at an auto store and practice on something else for a bit. You'll understand once you do it. :)

And as for using Line-X, you can take it in and have them do it for you. It's not very expensive compared to buying fenders. It's very durable, it's used as a spray on bedliner. It's tough and like in the pictures above, does not show scratches. Heck, I have black plastic fenders. Mine are full of scratches. Later on down the line, I'm going to Line-X them.

    Thanks for this^^

I've used Herculiner before, but that was a mess. It was the brush on type. Might have to take a look at the Line-X.

Line-X is done at a shop, I don't think you can buy it in a can.
