Are all of them that expensive though? And do you have to do the special playlist thing? Also, what about steering wheel controls and volume difference (like when you have to turn it up for the ipod compared to the radio)

You don't have to do the 'special playlist thing', only if you want to switch between playlists like you do your CDs. I have 2 playlists (named w/e I feel like), I pick which one I want via the iPod interface, then use the steering wheel controls to go through the songs in my playlist. The audio volume difference is not very much, if anything i think the ipod may come in a little bit louder, but not much. You don't need to crank the volume up/down before you start playing it. And ya, unfortunately they are a little pricey, but work good and with all iPods and iPhones. I did a lot of searching before I bought mine. The best thing is that even when you have it set to 'iPod interface control' you can still change the tracks via steering wheel controls, etc. So when my GF starts playing a song I don't like I can just change it :p

Highly recommend the GROM iPod interface, found here, it does the same as the USA Spec but only $90. Super easy to install. Can show you pics if you want and its awesome.

I use an old ipod nano and just leave it in my car, it pauses when truck is off and resumes when you turn the ignition. Totally rad.

Use the coupon code Tweet5 to get $5 off!

Edit: Also works with steering controls, charges while connected, volume control etc etc.

I can get a dvd head unit for like $200...I mean if I'm gonna spend $100 already to get something like that I'd much rather dump another hundo and get something crazy cool and different

Oh yeah no I totally feel you, a dvd head unit never looks factory and they are always a bit cheasy with their cheapo blue lights and what not. But I would still rather have one.
