Oldgeezer - From what I understand the console from an 05+ will work in an 09, except for the temp sensor that is mounted in front of the radiator.
The 09's use a different sensor than the 05-08's

You might want to make sure your truck is prewired for the temp sensor as well.
If it is, the install is much easier.

Dallas 05, if yours stopped working, do a search.
There is a quick easy fix.

Thanks for the info. I did remove the stock console and it is wired for the temp/compass.....not sure how to check what sensor I have.

The sensor itself will more than likely not be there, you will have to buy that separate.
You need to check under the core support, behind the left headlight to see if the wiring and plug for the sensor is there.

The sensor will mount to the lock support, behind the grille.

If you get a chance, stop by a dealer and look under the hood of a Tacoma that is already equipped with the overhead console.

Thanks for the guidance on this Sideways. I will be off to the dealer to check the sensor. I did check my truck, and there is a black "item" just to the left... of the left headlight that looks nothing like the sensor in the middle of the grill, but seems to have nothing hooked to it?

Just to be clear on this mod....I do need a 09 console and not a earlier one as anything before 09 will not work?

An 09 console will just plug into the connector that is already in your vehicle and work. An 05-08 console will not just plug right in and work -- Toyota changed the wiring for the temperature probe so that on the 09 model it goes into the A/C system, then the A/C system sends a signal to the overhead console (using a single wire). On the 05-08 models the temperature probe is wired directly to the overhead console (using two wires).

An 05-08 console will work in an 09, but it won't plug directly in. If you use an 05-08 console in your 09 you will have to install a second temperature probe and run the two wires from it directly to the overhead console. So it can be done but it would be easier to just plug in an 09 overhead console, if you can find one.

Installed Overhead Compass and Temperature Display along with outside temperature sensor and wiring; LED lights reverse backup; LED license plate lights; GTA Audio kits for iphone audio; Spare tire steel braided air hose extension connection to rear bumber; Installed new headlights along with new bulbs PIAA H4 XTreme and for fog lights PIAA H10 XTreme bulbs.
Is this offer still valid? If so, would be interested in purchasing, exactly what condition is it in, good shape, working properly, scatched, banged, etc.? I take it, it is from a 2008 Tacoma? Could you provide pictures?
