Just out of curiosity, why would you modify/fab an existing one to fit? If you have the fab skills, why not just build your own and save you the cash? Or if you don't wanna put that much work into it, why don't you just buy one that does work? Surco and Yakima both make one for your model (I know because I've considered this route).

The defender roof rack only is made in sizes for different applications, their system requires you to drill your roof, so you can really fit the rack on anything.

I only considered the Defender because i like the light cage that you can purchase for it. and i would fab everything on my own but honestly im to busy at the moment.
