Ya I can only imagine. There is nothing like a cop dog, they are deffinatly something else. We tried to get one they retired but the officer ended up not letting him go.

I would never have been able to give him up. There are websites that specialize in finding homes for former K-9's.

Ya, my mom had an emotional attachment with the one at her work, when she stepped away from her car the K-9 officer snuck his dog in her car so when she turned around the dog was going through her car, she was one of the few people that the dog would actually like to be around.

Sorry to hear about your partner passing away. At least you got 14 years with him. We just put my Shepard down in April of last year.Got him on my 16th birthday. I have had 6 German Sheppard's over my life and he was by far the best dog/friend I have ever had, So i feel your pain. I miss him every day all day, Also he only lived 10 years. One thing for anybody who has a Shepard make sure you get their kidneys checked by your vet once in awhile. Don't give them to much table scraps because their kidneys cant handle the salt. I learned the hard way so I just try to let anyone know who has one of these great dog's.

Not only the kidney thing but if you can find a good east german bloodline the tend to be healthier and have less joint issues. I could go on and on about them. GSD's also tend to have allergies. Still they are exceptional dogs.

Ya, our shepherd eats her paws every year from allergies, she gets to the point where she cant walk on them.
