Bill Mahr probably can't get or afford a real audience, so it's much more likely to be a laugh track (a recording of an audience laughing). The industry does that all the time, even going so far as to show short video segments of an audience which isn't even there in the studio.

 

A good place to start IMO is to not listen to a word Maher says /thread.

At the end of the day who cares what he says? Its his show on a subscriber channel. He's giving his opinion and he's obviously left leaning. If your views don't go that way, don't watch. Pretty simple. No different than half the content on FoxNews. Only major difference is that channel has news in the title and there are a lot of people who somehow don't realize that theyre biased towards the right and some take their peoples opinion as fact.
