You are weirdly fixated on this, I love my truck, the situation angers me.

Just had Toyota check the VIN two weeks ago, no recalls, no issues.

If I remember correctly, the Takata bags were used until this year. The later 4Runners won't be on the recall list until the time is right. Meaning, the 2010 4Runners are just now getting them replaced and only in hotter climates. Go to Google and search 4runner airbags. Pretty sure you will be on the list and that is a serious recall. But, maybe I'm wrong!

Update, heard back from the dealership, they identified a faulty crank shaft position sensor was replaced under warranty.

I thought the first one was changed out automatically due to recall, not that it failed.

That's pretty suspect. They changed the part out already under recall, and then the new redesigned CPK failed? Do you have your paperwork from the first time the sensor was replaced? Should have a part number on there.

Exactly my point. The second one should have been good to go, but failed within a few hours of use?

Not sure if it was a few hours or a few weeks /months on the original CKP changeout. I assume the CKP and diff inspection recall visit(s) were done prior to the transmission work.

OP should be able to confirm if failed part was the new and improved part especially if the same dealership did both services.

This would be the first I've heard of the "new" part failing althought not outside the realm of possibility, any brand new part has the potential to fail.

I'm glad they found the issue being the CKP. I'm still unclear if they replaced the original or not... but hopefully you are back to normal and ready to roll.

It was replaced when I went in for the recall.

Guaranteed they just took a cpk off the shelf not caring if it was the old part or new improved cpk. They aren't going to just throw inventory away. Lol. They will use off and hope for the best, yours didn't work out for them.
Glad it is fixed op. Gl with future repairs

NOOOOOOOO. So it happened again today. While in NM visiting family my truck started having problems again. The surging during acceleration is back along with loss of power. Twice the truck has just died on me, both times high trans temp warning and low oil pressure warnings popped up. Possible CPS Failure? Transmissions problems? I called the local dealership unfortunately they close at 5. Will try to get the dealer to check it again tomorrow. :frusty::frusty::frusty::frusty::frusty:
