I searched for this topic and couldn't find it. After 6 months of owning my 16 tacoma I just realized the bed of my truck is misaligned, the gap between the cab and bed is much tighter on driver side than passenger almost by an inch. If I look at it from the front (headlights)looking back it also sticks out more on one side than the other. I just droped it off at the dealership and walked around and found one '16 and three 17' with the same issue. My bumper is aslo much closer to body on one side than the other. It sucks I have had cars fixed after car accidents and they have been returned better than this. I told the service rep about the ones on the lot and he just laughed and said its ok, if some one complains we'll fix them.

I just checked my Taco it is 3/4 of an inch closer on passanger side. Also noticed it sticks out on driver side more.

I'm surprised it took you 6 months to notice the bed out of alignment. That being said - if you failed to notice it perhaps the folks at Toyota QC failed as well... At least it can be fixed. :)

It's a truck you can't see both sides at the same time and as for QC how do you know it's out of specifications? Man enjoy your new truck and stop looking for issues to give you a bad day.

Mine was/is the same. I noticed it more after changing wheels and noticed with wheel offset, then I measured the frame to wheel spacing. It's a body on frame truck.... My S10 was the same way. Never did anything funny while driving, so I just left it.

Man, it's so easy to get paranoid now. Checking the bed, the bumper, the glue under the hood, the cab mounts are creaking, headliner rattling, dash, speaker, glovebox, tranny delay, diff aaaaaaahhhhhh! This forum sucks.

This is one of those things that once you see it, it cannot be unseen.

It will gnaw at your psych endlessly until it is resolved.

Thankfully it should be an easy resolution.

The bed mount to chassis bolts are easy to locate and torque down. "So easy a caveman could do it" from those old Geico commercials comes to mind.

You bought a new truck, and you're right to have it adjusted. Good on you for noticing, and also for giving Toyota the chance to fix it.

Yeah its sucks these little issues, I love my truck and enjoy the compliments I get on it. Main reason I took it in was because I used to work at a dealership when I would appraise cars I would look for differences in gaps on doors and the body on both sides for signs of car accidents. Last thing I want if I ever want to sell it is someone telling me it's had work done. It is an easy fix, but I'm an EMT and don't have to much free time. Haven't posted a pic in a while too

My rear bumper has been misaligned since like day 2. Or at least that's when I noticed it.

It's a quarter inch closer on one side than the other. One of my.multiple times going in to service I saw that at least half of the trucks are slightly off.

To be fair..it's not super noticeable unless you are looking for it. Then it's obvious as hell. (Toyota qc should be looking for it)

    This is my favorite forum.

I drive my 16 Tacoma to work in the morning, just loving it and shifting the 6speed manual. I read new threads, and began to find all the faults and hating the truck. By the time I go home, I want to trade my POS Tacoma in. Then I get a good night sleep, and I love my truck in the morning again....

    Ignorance is bliss.

    Not a good advise
We need the issues fixed within the warranty period. Unless you have too much cash to trash :)

Fellow Taco owners, this isn't a Lexus.

I remember those old commercials for the ES sedan when it was first introduced and a ball bearing was rolled through the panel gaps to showcase how precise Toyota's fit and finish tolerances are.

First let me say I love my Tacoma, although it does have some issues.

Maybe these QC issues are from Toyota building the trucks too fast. I read in another post (that linked to a San Antonio newspaper article) how the San Antonio plant rolls a truck off every 60 seconds, and has to have an extra shift going. Maybe instead of making trucks as fast as they can to meet demand, they should just try to build as many as they can with proper QC. They would still make a ton of money, as they would be selling every truck they make, and also keep the brand loyalty because the quality of the trucks would be better.

Not all Lexus are built to the same standard.

My CT200h was garbage. My co-workers NX200T is having a bit of problems.

    My SC300, SC400, LS400, LS430, LS600h, LX470, LX570 were bulletproof.

If you want to fix this it's quite easy. If dealership is pissin around that is.

Back off the bed bolts and push back into square. Maybe 1 hour tops?

Less than 10 mins to loosen and check the top 6 bolts, but still won't square up. The other stuff will take longer and you'll go apeshit trying to chase every gap after that. Just leave it. There's only so much adjustment room.
