This is getting out of control. LOL
The tailgate does slide around a bit if you push it. It's normal....

Buy a Ridgeline please! Fixed hinge tailgate that opens two different ways and gives you access to an in bed storage box.

So, did the dealer fix the bed gap issue? I noticed the same on my 2017 and had it for a week.

If its off only a 1/4" that's probably within specs.

Instead of driving your trucks and enjoying them, pull them into your garages and measure every single panel gap and report results daily.

Once it's set right, drop the reports to weekly but don't drive them as they might get misaligned again.

How many of these misaligned bed threads need to keep showing g up now? It's not unusual for a truck to have a misaligned bed and if it happens it's an easy fix. If it bothers you so much you can have the dealer realign it for free until it's out of warranty then learn to do it yourself later.

Jesus, some of you people probably shouldn't own a truck, Toyota or otherwise.

The bed is a easy fix, my 15 was off. But this should not be happening, my 02 had none off these issues, just the frame rotted away, but Toyota replaced it 12 years later. They are not perfect but better than most.

I can see both sides.......some are freaking out over what may seem to others as trivial. But as expensive as these new Tacomas are they really shouldn't have as many problems as they do.

They're not that expensive when you compare the cost to other trucks. Recommend you visit a Chevy / GMC / Nissan dealership and check those beds for alignment.

It's a truck thing, not a Toyota thing.

Let's see, drive line vibe and diff hum, carry over from 2nd gen.

Squeaky leaf springs and taco lean, carry over from first gen.

Control arm whistle, mistake in design that allows wind to whistle through holes in structure, easily fixed by TSB plugs. The control arms themselves work fine.

Transmission shift flare, carry over from 2nd gen.

Low transmission / diff fluid, carry over from 2nd gen.

Transmission shiftiness, initial shift programs aggressively selected the highest gear when in D but can be defeated by S4 or just getting the TSB done.

R-D delay, annoyance but fixed by TSB.

Entune resetting, may be due to how many devices are paired, poor ground or a bad head unit. Head units replaced with warranty.

Entune not pairing well with IOS, blame Apple proprietary software as it seems to work well with Android.

Squeaky clutch, carry over from 2nd gen.

CSP failure, appears to be due to bad batch of parts from supplier. Can happen to any vehicle with a bad batch from a supplier. Have not heard of failures from trucks with the new part installed.

    Did I miss anything?

IMO, Toyota has (what I call) 2 levels of QC and vendor supplied items.

You get what you pay for.

However, some standard manufacturing tolerances are not within the norms for Toyota.

I'm about to trade my Tacoma in for a Sierra. I took my Tacoma in for the misalignment and the service rep told me they fixed one a couple weeks before, that the Cab not the bed needed to be ajusted. A toyota rep came out to look at my misaligned Tacoma and compared it to 16' and 17' models on the lot, she said my truck is consistent with the ones on the lot. That a misaligned bed/cab is normal. I showed her my 2002 ram that I use for work, and pointed out that it does not have that problem and she said well Toyota QC passed it so its normal. I got my truck appraised and am about to trade it in for a Sierra Denali 4x4.... I'm done with Toyota

I'd definitely make a case with Toyota corporate. This will impact the resell value.

I'll have them compare with the 2nd gen when I bring it in next week to check the rear howling issue.

Sounds like you justified your purchase to go fullsize, Taco to a Sierra Denali is a big step.

Probably realized you bought the wrong truck for your needs in the first place.

...it has a faulty latch. It has some really el-cheapo bits in the mechanism that can cause it to not operate, or to operate stiffly. Other than that, ok so far. I'm just very happy that it doesn't have that 9-speed parts grinder in it like the Pilot has.
