Exhaust manifold is cast into the head. Chrysler did this with the Pentastar 3.6L in 2011. It allows the cat to be placed closer to the head and heated up to operating temps faster.

This should have been a sign not to go there. Newer Chrysler engineering is to make something that last less than 100K miles.

on the bright side. when working on heads the worst part (to me) was all the studs used to attach the header snapping and having to remove them. less studs less problems?

    Meh

Lots of 2 GRs out there with this design. Not a peep that it's been a problem. :notsure:

Its secretly a Harley Davidson V-Twin engine. This explains the lack of power, poor shifting, oil leaks, poor gas mileage, and poser band wagon fans.

Do you want to stay away from V6s just because Chrysler V6s are unreliable? Maybe we should all go to mid-engined cars because front-engined Chryslers are unreliable?

Having the exhaust manifold cast into the head eliminates a few potential long-term reliability issues like cracked exhaust manifolds or leaking manifold gaskets.

Seems like it puts the manifold into the cooling equation of the block rather than air cooled outside the block. Less piping probably saves room and concentrates more manufacturing into a single casting. I guess we'll see if the increased complexity of the head leads to different kinds of failures, possibly more prone to overheat?

cant help but wonder if those will be an issue and limitation when it comes to forced induction... not that i was going to put 7k into my engine but ill be happy to learn from others that do
