It's my understanding that this works for the 1st gen as well?

Free bump for a good product.

I've got one installed and it works nicely. I can't imagine it wouldn't work on a 1st gen. The only issue you might (and this is a longshot) run into is that the led strip is longer than you'd want. The wire and loom is plenty long enough to mount in almost any vehicle.

Too much to list, but enough to get me in trouble. Repeatedly.
Yes, it will fit in the 1st Gen. Or 90% of any of the vehicles on the market, for that matter. About the only fitment issue you might run into is a Jeep, or some GM vehicles.
We designed them to be universal. Several people on the thread have bought and installed them on family members' vehicles, including some sedans.

I can confirm this is indeed an Anti-Dark product and it does work on 1st gen tacos with no extra hassle installing. From the pictures it definitely looks like it hasn't been installed or used either. Take a look at my for sale thread to see what this looks like if you want to know how it works. There is a "how-to" installation video there as well :)
