    I'm trying for the rustic look. I plan to dip it in salt solution to accelerate rust then clearcoat. What do you think? Is clearcoating over rust a bad idea?

    I'm not much of a finishing pro, but that would look pretty cool if you could pull it off. I know powdercoaters have finishes that look like rust, you might check around for a local shop.
