Basically what is happening here too. I decided to stick around for another year to build savings/bounce back from this engine dillema. Plus I can take extra classes that are more so job qualifiers and not so much needed for my degree (computational biology, gis, etc.). She has a job through October, maybe december. We pretty much decided that we will both shoot for full time positions. First one to get one, the other follows. For example, if she finds one, I follow her and figure out work when I get there. Whether that's being a UPS driver or working in my field.

I am super flexible. Fish jobs are everywhere and mostly federal (vet preference) and I have a strong background in the computer side of things which can be translated to other fields (basically gets me stat based jobs). She is a bit more limited since her focus is in herps. Not many reptiles/amphibians up in Alaska .

Yea I'm dead set on LA unless something comes up. She is pretty happy to move there as doing her masters there would be nice. She wants a year off though.

Unless something crazy pops up for me that's my plan. No job yet there of course haha figure that out later.

I wish you the best of luck. Gotta be patient to live in California. I wouldn't want to move back there, im just starting to dig the slower pace of eastern washington. Are you still waiting to hear from Capitol records?

I am but not banking on it. I have a great offer to do recording of classical musicians in MT. world class people and facilities. Plus my boss at the weed gig is working with me so I can work before the gig, part time during the gig, and full time after so I'll have good cash flow all summer.

And I'll be able to camp all fall.

Possibly go on a big trip or two as well.

Hoping to just bust into a big studio down there to make it all worth it. Not going to be easy but hopefully work out. I reached out to a few places in Seattle but none replied.

I've got buddies at Entercom in Seattle but I'm not sure if that's your thing. I can see about putting you in contact with someone if you're interested.

That's nerve racking. Id gladly move for a job, not sure I could swing moving without a job and no real support. You could probably get a foot in the door at one of the truck shops down there to get by until you find a real job though.

    With what?

I'm hoping to be an audio engineer that either records and mixes or just mixes music.

Did it once already when I moved here. Took me about two years to really get myself established with my day job and audio gigs. I could stay here and be okay for a while. But not long. Just not enough work. And I'm sick of my rock climbing job haha

It's never fun but I'll make it work. I've been told time and time again that every time I meet audio people they can just tell hat I care more then others. And that's how I got my gigs. Haha because I just proved them right.

With the references I have. I think I'll be good.

    But time will tell.

My friend manages set lists and such. But his father is one of the station managers if I remember correctly. Their jobs are almost entirely radio centric so there isn't much live mixing occurring.

That's a nice plan. Im lucky with my gf, shes nursing so pretty much no matter where the oil field takes me, she can follow.

Monte, Im sure you guys will figure it out, I've spent every summer away from my gf, and we always worked it out fine.

Yeah it's not my favorite media either. Love the daytime talk shows in Seattle though. I'm hoping to do some roadie work this summer for a couple venues in Entercoms production lineup in addition to my usual job at the Home Depot this summer.
