Ain't that the truth. I work with my girlfriend quite often through the summer. She really needs a break from my competitive, shit talking, casual working self.

Does the cold weather/ icy and shit roads affect switching into 4x4 at speeds? About an hour ago I was doing about 20 and tried to switch in to 4 wheel drive and it made this terrible grinding/vibration. Like the noise when you grind gears on a manual transmission. Switched fine at a complete stop but at any speed it made the noise. Could it just be since it was so icy the front wheels weren't at the same speed/ when trying to engage they locked up as the rears so it was grinding the transfer case?

I have never had that issue and have drove on plenty of icy roads. Getting it to engage is one thing, but grinding is another. I can't remember what happened but last summer, when I switched to 4lo I had a weird grinding noise.

If you have grinding while going into 4lo its because you didn't get the lever all the way in, which can happen if you aren't totally stopped or just didn't throw the lever hard enough.

Doesn't matter. Can't be moving at all when going into 4lo and can't move until its fully engaged is my point.

Rings? Youve gone practically past that point anyways. You already live with her and now are thinking of a business. Shit you move fast.
I really hope that he didn't use a scotchbrite on the cams.....that would inherently casue more damage to them than anything.

Sorry about the dog. Cleaning up diarrhea is horrible. Haven't had to do that since mine was a pup.

Pretty sure that's what he said. Fuck this engine. I know what ever he did, he didn't apply much pressure. Just hoping things work out.

I was coasting in neutral once and coasting with clutch all the way in the other time. Seems to work fine this morning. It could have been all the ice that was caked up under there yesterday.

The only way mine goes into 4 lol without doing that annoying beep is if I'm rolling forward. But could also be because it's a second gen with the electronic switch.

Chris is right though. The cams need to be very tight tolerances. So...either way. Not a good situation. Id have tired a solvent first.

He did. It's the weirdest thing I have seen. It doesn't look like rust and its thick. I think the plan is that it will rub off itself off in the first 10 minutes of getting it running. Not much else I can really do...
