that would be the end of the road for our relationship if she passed on a 4runner. especially after ridingi n a wrangler 2 or 4 door and how god damn loud it was all the time. Wind and tire and just bare bones feeling.

The new 4Runners are many steps above the new jk's, unless you will be dropping 20k into it and need to go up 5 foot verticle step ups. I know alot if people that got 4 door Rubicon's because they are "cool" but absolutely regret it do to the noise and trashy ride quality. If I had found a Trail 4Runner for the same price as my taco when I was shopping, I would have driven it home.

I guess it depends on what you mean by many steps above. If your talking capability off road there's really no comparison(unless your into go fast stuff,) but if your referring to daily driving I would tend to agree. I've owned both 4dr and 2dr rubicons in the last few years, and they definitely have their drawbacks. The ride leaves something to be desired, and the handling isn't always the greatest. The noise issue really isn't a fair comparison, your talking about a vehicle with a removable Fiberglass top what do you expect?
In the end I sold my Jeeps to have something more practical. I do enjoy the ride, but honestly my Tacoma isn't much quieter. I am going to spend a boat load of money to make my tacoma do what both jeeps would do stock.

Let her get what she wants but you should probably give her the run down on what it may cost to maintain a stock jeep vs a stock 4runner. I have had a lot of friends with jeeps in the military that moved on because they seemed to always be fixing something. They didn't offroad or know how to work on trucks so it was an annoyance for them.

I also have a friend that sold his first jeep for another one and is happy to repair all the little things that go wrong. Just having a jeep is enough to keep him happy.

I don't know what she does for a living but unless she is similar to us truck guys that seem to put more money towards our trucks than food, probably best to pick a vehicle that is least likely to have issues.

If this is the way to get her into working on vehicles and such...then I wouldn't complain :).

I'm constantly annoying my GF, but it's fun just pushing her buttons to see her reaction. I completely understand the "puts up with me" part lol

Doesn't surprise me lol. Woke up to get breakfast 2nd morning of Brewfest over there a few years back and counted like 15 Tacomas and 30 Toyotas total from LB to Safeway. Certainly doesn't hurt having Fremont Toyota over there.
