    Hold on, I'm relaying from my dad.

    I miss spoke a bit. So the TNC sends a voltage to the flat audio pin of the radio and that varies the amplitude of the signal. By change you can alter the deviation to allow it to be heard better.

    So yes, chances of getting a packet out increase.

    Coverage may be better than you think. IIRC, Timmy's beacons from the same area were pretty thorough.

    I'm sure it will be better than south eastern BC.

    Monte, what setting are you going to use in aprsdroid for broadcasting?

    I know you had this discussion with Mr Tim last year when we were in Ca and I also know he feels strongly on the topic and has hammered both Ben and me about it.

    It's a wider bandwidth on the signal you broadcast.

    Like...error. Instead of a 1% error yours is mostly likely at, mine allows 3%.

    My dad says most digi preaters are tuned for a 2.5- 3khz deviation.

    But it looked like Timmy was using the smart beaconing setting, the one that broadcast at every turn.

    I don't give a fuck. You too are ridiculous. You don't need to see where one another is every second Jesus.

    Id just manually beacon if you asked and where that concerned.

    We never had it before. And didn't need it. Now it's just handy. I'm not relying on to know where you are because unless you say something I'm going to assume all is well in the world. You get lost? No problem. Just manually beacon. Takes two seconds and give an up to date data point.

    Guys are glued to your screens in the truck now..:rolleyes:

    I have to agree with Ben on this. Every 5 minutes is not nearly enough if the intent is to keep track of each other when we are not in visual contact. Please consider modifying that.

    We always stayed on visual range before. Had to. This tool provides a way to get separated.

Especially when ive gone through best practices with each one of you individually. And I'll cut the power cord to any of your radios if I catch you beaconing at a 1min interval on a shared resource. None of you are that important.

    Eh. Not as handy for nav as using gpx tracks and satellite imagery. It is okay don't get me wrong, but not a nice, there is better options.

    This is probably due to your radio not being tuned and TNC. Just saying. On top of that, its not just about hitting igates. You are still broadcasting every minute which means any local stations that aren't igates get overwhelmed with your data.

    Now granted, in canada, not such a big deal ill admit. But just about everywhere else...its too much.

    You don't need to know where eachother are THAT freaking much. I mean seriously. You guys are worse then Lisa about this now haha

    and the first time I did it with you i had never run it. And we always spread out away from the dust. So i don't see your BS call there.

    And regaurdless...Washington is a perfect example. And it worked out fine. You knew a majority of it ya, but no one else did. And we where very spread out there too.
