Headed to look at a couple cheap pickups today in CO. Looking at a 91, and 97 Tacoma both reg cabs. Both 4cyl manuals. Anyone have any pros and cons, or thoughts between the two generations?

Pros to the Pretaco: Bullet proof. Low maintenance. Tons of happy character. Im assuming it'll have a 22re in it. DON'T get the shitty 3.0 V6.

Cons to pretaco: not good mileage. Low power. Very old now days, could be beat up a ton and need lots of love. Rust on the body is common and some times frame.

Taco pros: Coil over front suspension. More power. Still bullet proof. Still plenty of character. Bit better interior. Rides better. Should be a bit better on mileage.

Con: Also aging. Rust can happen on frame.

Honestly, both would be good choices if they are both clean and similarly priced. Id probably go Tacoma at this point over the pretaco. But i have owned both and the pretaco are awesome. SO much character. I loved ours. Test driving them will really sort them out. Could be a tough call.

Not much. Slept in which was nice haha You guys over there now? May stop by and hang out while i put on new mudflaps lol

Not a real answer. Im not sending a check unless you give me a good reason as to why. Paypal if free. Checks and mailing arent.

Ben you know the bank is just "advancing" you the funds if it's not put on hold, right? A check can come back later as bad, or fraudulent, and funds will be pulled from you even if you already withdrew the money or cashed the check.

Well the taco got sold before I could make it there. Drove the 91 around, not sure how I feel about it lol. Definitely underestimated the gutlessness of the 22re. Nice pickup though.

Yea not much power in 22re haha but should been plenty for a single cab and a manual.

Definitely seemed like it was lacking. I didn't want to get back home and go crazy trying to drive down the interstate in the Wyoming wind.
