You can't really blame guys for wanting to be part of this expo thang. We know it sure is a hell of a lot of fun. But I think talking about being expo and purchasing items traditionally considered expo things sometimes overshadows and interferes with actually doing expo things. To me that is the sad part.

yea i guess that is what i mean by mainstream.

People feel like they need to buy all this Expo shit...but..you don't.

I kinda wanted that to be a tone of our last trip since Igor is pretty bare bones. But did everything fine. Hoping that'll inspire some to realize they just need to go out and do it and don't need a fully armored rig with OBA/OBW/RTT and LEDs everywhere with 35s and lockers.

All that stuff is great as we know, but you don't NEED it.

I agree, is kind of sad. I get tons of younger guys(lol funny for me to say that) that want their rig like Frank...and I just keep thinking..man when i was in high school, Grant and I just took the truck to the hills and did stuff. We didn't even have hardly a tool kit. And it was so fun to drive a stock truck..

    Oh well i guess.

    I do, I do.

I guess for me it's all about being prepared for whatever the adventure throws at you. Sometimes that means having a lot of 'stuff.'

OBA-RTT-armor-lockers-tires-navigation/communication tools-upkept maintenance-fridge for beer are all examples of stuff. To some looking in from the outside, that might look like those item are just for show. And to others it might seem like these are must have items to be able to be EAF. In fact, it is neither. These are just items I have accumulated over the years.

Haha yea exactly. But you've accumulated all that stuff and then used them to expand your use if trips and things.

I love how out of all the things associated with the 3rd gen the grille is the last thing to come down and somewhat spin like a hubcap on the ground.

I have literally said those things above. Lol. "I'm not wheeling until I have bumpers" "im not wheeling until it's paid off it's my dd" "I'm not camping until I have a roof top tent bc I'm not sleeping on the ground" as I got older and more financially responsible it has put a few things on the back burner.

lol i mean this year was a wash since i have no time until after august 27ths when i complete Ironman 2017 so not a big deal bc im setting aside all the funds for what i want. I probably would of gone on trips this year if i chose not to do ironman but this year its happening. im young so im not worried about missing a summer of camping

There is one here in cda. It's training about 3-4 hrs a day 6 days a week until august 27. Ha. But it's a bucket list item for me and with work I'm so busy that I have no time off anyways.
