@Blackdawg, what is the current pro philosophy these days regarding powered vs. passive speakers? In a mobile setting you're having to lug around that weight whether it's inside the speaker or rack mounted amps. I've personally been using passive for the past 9 years, what are the pros and cons in your opinion?

 

You can just eyeball the toe to get you to a shop to align it. Easily.

Well that's why if I was lugging stuff around I'd go with the qsc k10s. I've done a few shows with just those as mains and monitors. 1000w RMS and small and light. Sound awesome too, easy to mix through. I'd go that route in a heart beat. Don't need speak on cable either. Just power and a mic cable to it for input. Or 1/4.

If you're doing big shows. Line arrays with DSP power amps is the way to go. You can really dial in the spread of sound to the audience and multiple gain stages with the directional line arrays. Various speaker widths too. Then tuning with built in DSP and POWERFUL ass amps these days.

But powered is the way to go if your doing small stuff. so easy to setup and the qsc k series and if you get their sub's too. you're ready to rock. very nice speakers. pretty much the powered speakers of choice.

 

Thanks. The ASA ATP test prep guide and oral exam guide, travel with me everywhere I go right now. What really sucks is if I had taken the written before 8/14 is I would of had my ATP for 2.5 years now. I currently take the equivalent of the ATP checkride twice a year at 6 month recurrent, I would have had to pay for the examiners fee only, poor planning on my part...

If you are referring to him being blocked on one but not the other, it's not all that weird. Proxy severs and firewall devices have gotten quite sophisticated lately. Screening/blocking of web traffic can easily be done by many techniques, including using keywords.

Forgot, Engineer: agent oranges all the grease spots, rinses, squeegees. Then degreases and cleans the drip pans daily.
