Good to hear! The drive has been gorgeous so far. Stopped in evanston for dinner. Got a nail stuck in the uhaul tire :(. Waiting an hour for them to come replace it. Guess it's good we planned on sitting down to eat.

We made it! First impression is great. We hated Boise but we kept on the outskirts so we need to go back and see the city itself. We LOVED the drive from Boise to Grangeville. We haven't went through the town itself but the little bit we have seen has been great. Going to look at a place tonight to rent and hopefully sign a lease.

Good races today in F1 and Indycar! Feel bad for Alonso with the motor failure. Not a good showing for Honda with all the motor failures...

Well, the first place I looked at may have been the nastiest house I have ever seen. Totally misled on that one.

Luckily I found a one bedroom studio for $350 including utilities. It's small but has a little yard for Ash. I'll save a ton of money and it will be all the more reason to get outside with Ash.

Really enjoying this town and area. Everyone I have talked to is super nice. Plenty of small things to do and the gym is decent. Though, there has already been small town talk about me . Apparently I was "grumpy" when I talked to someone about renting a place. Everyone I have talked to about a place has mentioned it.

Is Ash's grumpy side rubbing off on you?

    Glad you found a place!

So after getting called into the snowys to see if I could pull my old roommate back onto the road I realized I really really need a winch. Any suggestions for a good winch to drop into my SOS bumper? The jeep that pulled him out had a smittybilt 10k winch on the front which seemed to do a really good job. In the bottom pic you can see how we got him out.

Nice old retired guy and his daughters in his new supercharged custom wrangler with a winch, my taco to act as an anchor point for the jeep, and a new taco with traction pads to put under the Nissans wheels.

I've heard good things about the Gen 2 Smittybilt 10k's. Very reasonably priced too. Warn is always a great option if you've got some extra money to spend.

I was looking at the smittybilt because its something I would use occasionally, and needed twice now, but not a ton. If I was going to use it regularly I would probably pay the price for warn. I guess my main question is which brands have the solenoids that can be removed/moved to fit in the bumper.

My x20 Smitty 10k has worked very well. The syn line it comes with is good.

would you recommend the synthetic line over the steel cable?

Definitely. Lighter, and much safer if your line decides to come uncunted while you're hooked up and pulling.

My smittybilt has worked just fine for my needs. Synthetic is absolutely worth it I'm my opinion. One time dragging a synthetic line out you'll be sold, plus it won't take your head off if it breaks.
