It's weird the things you miss when you lived somewhere for a bit. The haboobs in Chandler and the greater PHX metro are one of mine.

I'm not giving up on this idea just yet guys... Anyone got any good hard-to-get-to spots?

 

I remember those quite vividly as a kid growing up in west Phx. Maryvale actually. It seems like it was almost a nightly occurrence in July and August.

 

My fondness probably lies in trying to race them to Chandler in a super cub, when I'd lose I'd have to turn back towards casa grande or pinal and circle for 30 minutes or so until they cleared out so I could land.

 

Everything is mapped now days. Very few trails are unmarked and if they are, you probably shouldn't be on it. If you are willing to pack in there are plenty of sweet spots but I don't give mine out. Get in contact with private land owners if you want to get a decent place to camp during those dates.

Honestly out in the desert will be best. Tons if shit between highways 26 and 287. By muddy gap or Lost cabin. Probably be best of there somewhere. Shit load if roads between those areas.

 

Uhh I don't think ravers and dance naked around the fire hippies during the summer solstice are quite the same family tree branch. Douchey millienials go to bad EDM festivals (there are some good ones). Hippies listen to Neil Young.
