I remember him picking up the 4runner, is definately nice. I have looked at a few of them but don't really need the space. Then again don't exactly need a truck either ha

CB is entirely frustrating for me, even over this weekend it is hit or miss. Walkie Talkies have been more reliable on recent outings.

I nearly regeared this summer but sending off the check for the appraisal hurt and I didn't want to interfere with outings.

    Regearing is amazing.

Ham radios aren't any less finicky then CBs. Tuning the antennas is important, need a license, radios are pricey.

Plus everytime you get in the truck again you have to use the CB to ask everyone if your ham is working, then spend 15 or more minutes figuring out whose is working and whether or not the TNC is setup right. After that you can use it exactly once before it breaks mysteriously again.

Building one, more like a crossover or just a whole bunch of potentiometers?

Was trying to upload a photo of it. But for whatever reason TW was no having it. Its a passive tone EQ. Boost and cut for preset frequ with a make up amp stage. Its based off the legendary Pultec EQs from the 60-70s.

    https://www.diyrecordingequipment.com/products/eqp5-passive-eq-kit

    Can't wait to use them.

interesting. all we use are vhf radios and we dont have any problems...... unless you let the dealership fry it when they are doing work to your vehicle....... in fact, im picking up a 110 watt vhf this thursday before i head up to lander. i have to replace my icom 50 watt that they fried. other than that, they have always worked well for us

I think I'm fucked in moab this year...while testing out my rear shock fix and just screwing around on his property I blew up my drivers side cv becuse in and the front locked. So my day of fixing things ended with a quick pull and swap in the drive way in the dark from one of his parts trucks. God bless that man and his insatiable love of toyotas.

I see this becoming a trend and i continue to get cocky with it lol. Im like "Konsta how many am I going to break in moab" how many do you have "I think I'll have about 6 spares" then you're going to blow 6 cvs.

    Damnit

The radios we use for comms have never failed. Our aprs setups can be pretty finicky though.

Doubt I'm using mine for the same thing. I'm an audio engineer. Not for a vehicle system or competition. For mixing and mastering music. I posted a link to them. Pultec style 500 series eq in kit format
