Kind of as Monte said. Its a niche vehicle, and not a year round one at that in your area. The market is fairly flooded with them is part of the problem.

Refinancing a debt that is backed by something that is depreciating in value makes absolutely no sense at all.

 

You could just buy it outright and drive it into the ground. That's really how you get your money out of a vehicle.

 

So, your position is, if you can't pay the entire sale price of the vehicle without financing, said vehicle is more than you can afford.

 

I wouldn't take on the loan knowing I couldn't pay it off entirely at any time. Car loans can build amazing credit but if you are genuinely using it to finance something you can't afford, well that's just unwise with the unpredictability of life. Plus you wind up paying too much more because you couldn't pay up front.

 

I see your point but also disagree with it.

Sadly with the costs of vehicles today that really isn't possible for everyone. For you, yes perhaps, but not everyone. I wouldn't go buy any vehicle without a loan, even if I had all the money to pay it off right away. And odds are, 90% of the vehicles I would want/need would require a loan over the amount of money I currently have. Sure I could afford the payments fine but that doens't mean I have the money right now.

Your argument is invalid. You do not own property or a home. Almost impossible to avoid debt if you have those.

edit: About $300K for me over two pieces of property.
