Do yourself a favor and find an engine 100,000 or less out of a wrecked Tacoma or 4Runner that you can
hear running in the truck, it's a lot of time to swap out a motor, why take a chance on a motor.
There's a guy on the forum that did a diesel swap with a JDM motor here that ended up being a bad motor,
I wouldn't put in any motor that was not running in hand that I couldn't completely check out, that's just me,
I found a running motor here form another member that had around 100,000 miles that was in the truck that had been rolled for 1500.00.
My engine blew a head gasket at 489,000 miles, all those miles were supercharged miles!!!
Was Easier the replace the motor than try and fix the heads as they both were cracked and having
a low mileage motor now was the right choice.

    making my decision

Is that a drive-in movie screen, if so is it still operational? Lots of smoke here too.

Yea, headed to Butte, then up to Flathead so its pretty bad from what I have been told.

    .....

I tested the same model, I didn't hate it, it just felt so gutless that it made me sad.

That being sad I think you will enjoy it. I still find myself tempted for one. I look forward to seeing how you enjoy it cuz I know you will do a nice reporting of it. Congrats on it man.

    I see it as orange

Lol well in Toyotas defense, i drove one after driving the focus rs...soooo not even lose ha.

It reminded me more of how the 1st gens power band is actually. I am just unsure as I have become accustomed to this v8 and don't want to downgrade i guess. Now one I heard that a S/C is finally out that may be a game changer.

They are good looking rigs, and with some mods I think they look great. People said the same when the 2nd gens were coming out so we will see.

It's suppose to rain good next week. The grey sky has been a bit depressing. The cooler temps are nice though.

Correct, and yes it's still functional. They have a movie once a week. Haven't been to a drive in since living in Powell.

Why does that matter? The eclipse is during the morning...

I had an odd thing happen with Frank this weekend. Drove fine, and no engine codes since i cleared the misfire one. But i was going up the mountain and smelled not good. Pulled over and as soon as my revs dropped to idle, my oil light lit up.

That of course freaked me out, but i had full oil on the dip stick. No signs of leaks. And didn't really smell like burning oil...

I had 4 quarts with me so wasn't worried and noticed as soon as i blipped the throttle it went away. Drove to camp figured id check it in the morning when it wasn't hot.

Totally full, no signs of leaks...

    odd.

You ever run it dry? If you did it may have scored the oil pump which would leave it producing low pressure.

Yep i have. Spilled a lot out of it in Alberta due to the dip stick relocation not being 100% right.

Its weird because that is the only time its done that. Didn't do it today either.

But i sorta figured it would be the pump. Unfortunately..

You said you wouldn't be able to see the stars..

You should have no problem seeing the sun though at 10 am when the Eclipse happens..even under smoke. It'll just be red. Hell probably see it better.

Frank has cracked his AAL again too. Main leafs are pretty bad too. Two tacos that need new leaf packs now ha

Um...the big deal about the eclipse is that it will get so dark you can see stars and stuff. 100% of American scientists agree with Ben's assessment.

Yes you will see Venus and maybe a fee other brighter stars. But it does not get completely dark. Be more like how it is right now at my house. Dusk. I can see 3 stars. A a nice glow.

I'm not talking out my ass

    https://astrobob.areavoices.com/2017/08/01/how-dark-will-it-get-during-the-august-total-eclipse/

"If you have a second to look away, look at the horizon all around you. It will be the orange of a sunset, all the way around the whole horizon! You are in the middle of the circle of shadow that the Moon has projected onto the surface of the Earth, and all around you at the horizon, the eclipse is not total! You're seeing the sunset effects of the Sun's light from a hundred miles away or so, all around you!"
