No way to just add camber. you'd be changing the whole alignment. Need the right tools for it.

 

Been browsing commuter cars with the idea of hanging onto BabyT another year to feel the future out. My supervisor reassured me I have the job as long as I don't kill someone or steal government property. Which gives me comfort in having 2 cars and not worrying about moving.

Anyone ever purchase a rebuilt titled car? There are tons of them here. Seems like a simple fender bender is enough for insurance to write it off? Anyways, low mileage, new models and cheap. Most even have pictures of the accident. Everyone says once a car is in an accident it's ruined, but BabyT feels good as new and she was hit harder than some of these cars.

I'm talking like corollas, civics, and vw Jetta or Passat. Nothing sporty, just a simple car to save gas getting to work or going to Boise/spokane, etc.

 

The fact I am not dead is a testament to the human body after what I have put this thing through..

Ben, replacing the axle seal and axle bearing is not a trail fix.

 

Are you saying new bearings aren't better than your old bearings?

 

You should change them sometime between when they need to be replaced and when Monte changed his.


Mine made it 262k miles.


Only introducing the possibility of other failures if you or the shop you have do it don't know what they're doing. Zero issues on mine after doing it myself. Not really a valid argument to not change them.

 

Not all about miles. I think it is affected by tire size/weight, wheel offset, how you use your truck, miles, etc.

No idea if yours need to be replaced or not, but I wouldn't want to find out in the middle of nowhere. That being said, my seals only weeped slightly and I drove it like that for a couple weeks before I swapped the bearings.

 

If the axle is bent as you inferred at the start of this discussion, replace the axle and by default the wheel bearing and seat. Its no longer about mileage if the axle is bent.

 

Man, wish I could find a 3rd gen for $7,500. That's awesome.

 

If the axle shaft is not bent and your seal isn't leaking, why are we even having this discussion?

Yeah I had a week off but now few of those days I'll have to edit a piano solo album I just recorded for Steinway's label I just recorded yesterday. And have a jazz one to finish. And other 5.1 mixes to do as well.

Plus fix frank rear suspension and Jerry can mount. Swap bed racks from igor and tent. Those are my major things. Timing belt water pump for igor.
