probably will. We like the new one too much. But i am going to put the new tent on Frank for the trip. And the bed bars from Igor. Those are literally the perfect height. Fits my military cases perfect. Jerry cans perfect. 4'' above the bed. In Frank might even have plenty of room for dogs.

 

Why? So my truck can look stupid like yours?

And yeah works fine. Taken my dogs a few times like that. Just hunker down or they can sit in the bed with their head just outside the tent. Kinda funny to watch really.

 

I'll admit.

I've seen it first hand and not impressed. Plus it looks kinda goofy sticking off the end of the bed like that. The only way to fix that is to mount it higher so it overhangs the roof instead which adds other undesirable problems.

 

Monte what the going price for Frank's tent?

If you have a bedrack on frankenjr, when we come out of Sunlight Basin, we could swing by Powell and pick it up. We will be very close by.

Too many negatives with the hardshell models I've seen. If I were to ever consider going with another RTT, I think it would be one of these:

I'm considering getting a hard shell tent JB or a Air Top ?
I have a Tepui Kukenam. Ruggidized presently.
What are some of the negatives ?
Ben , what don't you like about the CVT ?

I'm aware of the advantages , quick set up take down , not putting away a wet tent if it's raining , keep my bed and it's contents under cover etc.
I wanna know the NEGATIVES

Not a chance. I love my tent. It has none of the short comings you had on yours. Its not too small, tarp fits excellent. Its comfortable and plenty of space for Devin and I. In fact i think your tent would be too small, well..too short for me.

The only small advantage you have far as i can tell is quicker setup. Thats it for me though and honestly, it doesn't take that long to do my tent especially with two people.

Hadn't thought of it really. Could probably get what paid for it damn near with how pricey they are now. If you are interested i would be happy to sell it to you for a deal.

Be super easy to swing into Powell at some point and pick it up. Could grab food at the brewery even.

How thick are the walls? Mine does quite well in the cold.

Should get a good test of that on the tour. It'll be cold at night on that trip.

I could never really figure what designers are thinking of putting in those nets on the ceiling ?
If you and the Bride switch sides , one problem is solved.

I dislike the flapping of the soft top in the wind, and that cover zipper.

I keep my keys in the tent with me at night. On a particularly rainy morning I was distracted by the weather , packing up fast, I get everything buttoned up and I'm ready to Roll in the dry warm cab.

Right now I'm leaning toward the James Baroud Evasion.
I'm taking my time and thinking this all out. Big bucks too !
Don't think I'll have a hard time selling my tent if I decide to.

I've been told by a few people that previously had soft tops , that they will Never go back.

annoying day at work for me..tomorrow isn't gonna be better.

If it makes you feel any better I just finished a week of hell, which will be followed by 2 weeks of straight hell just in the field lol. Headed to MT tomorrow to drop off the pup at my parents then off to Utah.
