I think so, but I'll have to check with Lizzy tonight. We looked at a lodge in Stanley for the wedding. Looks gorgeous out there. I want to go up there to see the Kokanee.

I have a feeling GFC is going to be the next glamping money pit. Everyone on here will say they're saving for one because it's the new cool thing haha. I personally don't see anything proprietary or interesting about it, but I respect the dude for going full ham and pricing it at 5k like there is something special haha.

Nah i totally get the cost. You're getting a super functional topper/bed rack/rtt camper that is light weight.

But will definitely be the new tw craze.

it is a cool idea and i think will work very well for a lot of people. Can't see anything else that is going to be able to compare to it that isn't twice as expensive.

    still too high for me.

I get it, the idea is cool but there isn't enough to it for me to see 5k of value. I could see a prototype or a super small run being 5k, but yeah it's still something that could be engineered at home for less money haha.
I could be well on my way to building a truck for lighter off-road activities for 5k haha.

    I don't see how.

Aluminum tubing..not cheap. Nor fun to weld.
Aluminum sides that open and are weather tight and sealed...not easy to make.
    all auminum fold up tent.

So if you did this yourself, you'd get a 2200 of a hard shell RTT. then spend easily another 1000 or more on the bed rack/topper setup to make work. Which without some of the nice machining equipment i don't see working out nearly as well for the back yard fabricator.

I think 5k is more than justified.

What will suck is when they release all the accessories and then it will be ridiculous.

And yes you could. But that's not the idea of this. Its to give you the best options for all situations. Which honestly is something that we ALL are constantly trying to figure out our ideal. Building a second truck isn't going to do that. I end up in situations now and go..damn wish i had frank..or even damn..wish i had igor. Doesn't solve anything haha

    is fun though.
Its..literally the same kind of tent you have? how is that a bad thing? Dog it won't work as well. Although you can just remove the sides, or get canvas sides with it and roll them up.

I mean think of how nice having that would have been this last fall. Been super nice.

Im not advocating for it, Im not going to go for it, too tall for my driving style. But if you are blind to see how actually amazingly versatile and useful that thing is over what we have now, you're a fool.

Like I said it's a neat idea, but not 5k neat. I'd rather spend 5k just learning to TIG weld better. Nothing about it says something I can't do or achieve for less. Cool idea, too much price for what you're getting, also wedge tent not my thing haha. Be interesting to see what people have to say about it after more than one person has justified the purchase.

No doubt. Lucky for us we have a friend that is..well..blunt in a cheery way and Im sure will give an interesting insight when Brett gets is. Plus after he get's his I'll get to see one in person.

Should be plenty of people with them before long. Think they have have 30+ preorders already.

The entire top is the platform. Its 90'' long. The pads move around so you can get up into the bed area. And still allows you to stand up when needed and such. again. Versatile.

    upload_2018-2-1_14-2-46.jpg

and the difference would be once it starts raining or snowing, you drop the canvas and everything stays dry and mud free.

Its an extremely flexible platform. Much more so then what we are currently running. That is all i am saying.

This one has the unique versatility of lightening your bank account saving you from the blight of savings interest. I don't see where it is getting its price the either, it's really neat, but that's where it stops, neat.

Up through the bed or through that main door that is open in that photo i posted.

Its nice you have yours dialed in to stay dry. You also don't haul the amount of gear some of us do. I mean yes, my stuff stays dry too in their boxes and things...but the mud still makes a an issue for me. And nothing is fun covered in snow.

Yes you can stand up. Which i know doesn't sound cool..but after standing up in the nest with 2' of head room above me....its pretty freaking awesome.

No built in solar(yet), but you can easily add it.
Yes there is an option rack for bikes and canoes and such. And it will still open with said things on the roof.
They are going to have an option for a fan but claim it ventilates extremely well. So well that Wiley(guy helping build it) put it away wet many times on testing and was dry by the night from driving around. I mean with a door that big can't imagine you'd need more air movement plus the two windows which are larger than your peep holes in your tent.
The whole sides of the tent are T slots to mount..anything you want. Awnings, lights, shower whatever.
The sides lift up if you get hard sides, which is nice compared even to a windoor. They also completely remove if you want.
the ENTIRE setup, bed rack and all, only weights 225lbs. Thats as much as just my tent. But is still a full sealed bed rack. I know that is similar to yours. But again, you's isn't a full bed rack or sealed from the elements. lighter is always nicer and would make it pretty easy to remove.
Setup is faster than even your tent i think unbelievably.

The main part for me is looking at it and seeing what you could do to the back of your truck with one. Not sure it itself. You could very much make it a comfortable place to live out of for months that would pack up fast and easy and be much more sheltered from the elements long term.

Your biggest..not problem..but i guess..issue with any kind of truck camper setup is hands down the dogs. No other setup with handle your dogs like yours does now. Well..not as ideally. And there is no way around that besides getting rid of them i guess. Which will never happen!

Can't wait for mine! For my purposes, it's the most practical solution to date. There's a reason I haven't sprung for a bed rack/rtt setup in all these years of wheeling.
